 Filenews 24 October 2025

The new leader of the Turkish Cypriots, Tufan Erhurman, is organizing a "new era" reception at the new "presidential" palace, which opens its gates to the public for the first time, after his swearing-in ceremony. The event is also attended by Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz.

According to reports in today's Turkish Cypriot press, for the first time this new building, which cost 6 billion TL and was financed by Turkey, will open its gates to the "people". The invitation was made public through the accounts of the "presidency" in the social media, which have reopened. Turkish Cypriot newspapers also write that the Facebook account of the "presidency", which was closed under Tatar, has been reopened for comments, while a special group has been created on WhatsApp for press officials.

At 9.30 a.m., the swearing-in ceremony takes place in the "parliament".

The handover ceremony at the new "presidential" is in progress. These two buildings are side by side in the new complex, but between the two ceremonies, Tufan Erhurman went to the monuments of the historical leaders of the Turkish Cypriots Fazil Küçük and Rauf Denktash to lay wreaths.
