TOM - NEW RECALLS OF DANGEROUS VEHICLES ANNOUNCED

The Department of Road Transport (TOM) announced the recall of dangerous products related to vehicles, based on information received from the Consumer Protection Service, during the 42nd week of 2025 on the website of the EU Rapid Alert System for Dangerous Non-Food Products (Safety Gate).

The TOM states that the dangerous goods are the following: Peugeot passenger/freight transport vehicle, with construction date 24/01/2025 and designation Traveller, Expert (Alert number SR/03546/25), Opel passenger/freight transport vehicle, with construction date 24/01/2025 and designation Zafira, Vivaro (Alert number SR/03548/25), CITROEN passenger/freight transport vehicle, with construction date 24/01/2025 and designation Spacetourer, Jumpy (Alert number SR/03549/25), Fiat passenger/freight vehicle, manufactured on 24/01/2025 and named Scudo (Alert number SR/03550/25).

Also, Volvo passenger car, with construction date 2025 and designation EX90 (Alert number SR/03572/25), Opel passenger car, with construction range 26/06/2025 – 13/08/2025 and designation Grandland (Alert number SR/03574/25), passenger car CITROEN, with construction range 20/09/2023 – 30/04/2025 and designation C5 Aircross (Alert number SR/03583/25), Opel passenger car, with construction range 05/02/2024 – 07/05/2025 and designation Grandland X, Mokka (Alert number SR/03584/25) and passenger car DS, with construction range 10/11/2023 – 05/05/2025 and designation DS7 Crossback (Alert number SR/03587/25).

In the announcement, the TOM calls on manufacturers, agents, distributors of the manufacturer, importers and sellers, who may have placed or place such products on the market of the Republic of Cyprus, to inform the Department of Road Transport.

It adds that the above economic operators must take all necessary measures to ensure that the products in question are recalled as provided for in the relevant legislation.

The Department also invites consumers, in case they own the above "cars or motorcycles", to contact the manufacturer or the manufacturer's representative or distributor for instructions.

It also calls on them in case they own "accessories, where appropriate, to stop using them and return them immediately to the point where they have purchased them (if possible), informing the seller accordingly".

According to the TOM, in the event that a manufacturer, representative, distributor of the manufacturer, importer or seller refuses to comply with the above consumer rights, the consumer is invited to submit his complaint in writing to the Consumer Protection Service through www.consumer.gov.cy website.

The Department also states that for further information, consumers can contact the Department of Road Transport or at recalls@rtd.mcw.gov.cy email address.
