THE BIDS FOR THE PUBLIC MARKET IN PAPHOS TO BE AWARDED SHORTLY

 Filenews 3 October 2025

The Deputy Mayor of Paphos, Angelos Onisiforou, in his statements to "F", announced that the bids for the creation of the Paphos Public Market will be awarded in the coming days and now the institution of the farmers' markets, which operates in other districts with very satisfactory results, will soon become a reality in Paphos as well.

The municipal authority, he stressed, has announced and received the offers from interested parties for the construction part of the landscaping works and in the next few days the award will be made to the preferred bidder, in order to put the whole process on track for construction projects.

In this market, he said, the opportunity will be given mainly to agricultural producers to sell their products directly to consumers at attractive prices so that in this way both the producer benefits, giving him the opportunity to increase his family income, and the consumer.

It seems that this discussion is an important step in strengthening the local economy and supporting both producers and consumers, Angelos Onisiforou assessed. The creation of a farmers' market in Paphos will provide a space where agricultural producers will have the opportunity to promote and sell their products directly, eliminating intermediaries and reducing costs for consumers, he remarked.

The Deputy Mayor of Paphos also mentioned that such an initiative can enhance local production, promote the consumption of fresh and quality products and contribute to the economic viability of small producers.

Additionally, he concluded, it creates an opportunity for residents and visitors of Paphos to get closer to producers, fostering social cohesion and trust in the local market.
