Although the operation to remove the two vehicles that remained stuck for a week in Aliki Larnaca was initially estimated at €5,000, in the end the cost went up as it took much more hours to free them.
According to information from the Municipality of Larnaca, the cost of the business, which was undertaken by a private company with a special crane, amounted to €7,000 (including VAT). It is recalled that this amount is required to be paid by the owner of the two vehicles, which were transported to the warehouses of the Municipality of Larnaca.
It is noted that both cars have the same registered owner who is also required to pay a fine of €2,000 imposed by the Game Service. Until 12 noon on Thursday, however, the owner did not show up to pay the amount and pick up his vehicles.
Asked by Filenews to report what the Municipality of Larnaca intends to do in the event that the owner does not show up to pay the cost of the business and take his vehicles, the mayor, Andreas Vyras, said that the legislation on abandoned cars will be complied with. "If it does not appear in the next period, then the Municipality will proceed with a relevant publication and the two vehicles will be auctioned," he noted.

The very difficult operation to free the vehicles that were in the middle of the Larnaca salt lake was carried out yesterday with the use of a crane and large wire ropes and lasted... seven hours.
It is recalled that the first driver initially entered the salt lake on Wednesday, October 8, and that his car got stuck in the mud. He then notified a second driver in order to help him get out. However, the second car was also immobilized in the salt lake. The reason cited by the driver who entered the salt lake first also caused a great sensation.
According to the deputy mayor of Larnaca, Jason Iasonidis, "when the services of the Municipality of Larnaca spoke to him, he had said that he was trying to get closer to the sunset to capture better images with his camera".
