More than 2,790 traffic violations were detected by members of the Police in the last week, as part of targeted checks to prevent serious and fatal traffic collisions and cultivate proper road behaviour.
According to the data, out-of-court notices were issued for the following offenses:
- 874 drivers for violating the speed limit
- 199 drivers to use a mobile phone while driving
- 169 persons for not wearing a seat belt
- 34 motorcycle drivers for not wearing a protective helmet
- 76 drivers for driving under the influence of alcohol
- 114 drivers for illegal parking
- 41 drivers for parking in disabled areas
The rest of the complaints concerned other traffic violations.
The Police emphasizes that the controls will continue, with the aim of reducing traffic accidents and enhancing road safety for all road users.
