MAJOR ROAD WORKS


Larnaca-Famagusta Motorway On the slopes of all the Larnaca District motorways, as well as the “Kalo Chorio” and “Rizoelia” roundabouts, during the period 01/09/2025 – 31/10/2025, excluding weekends and holidays, between the hours of 08:30-14:30, the Department of Forestry will carry out works, pruning and watering plants. During the works, part of the shoulder of the motorway will be closed, in sections of 300 meters at a time. Traffic will not be affected. On the section of the motorway between Xylotympos and Ayia Napa, during the period 08/09/2025–31/10/2025, between the hours of 09:00 in the morning and 05:30 the following morning, weekdays except Fridays, weekends and holidays, emergency door installation works will be carried out on the central island. During the works, a section of the motorway lane adjacent to the central island, from the Xylotympos area to the Ayia Napa roundabout, will be closed, successively for a length of 100 meters each time, simultaneously from both directions, at nine different points.

From Monday 27/10/2025 until Thursday 30/10/2025, daily except holidays, between the hours of 08:30 – 16:00, on the Larnaca Airport – Paralimni motorway, watering works will be carried out on the central island, by the Forestry Department. During the execution of the works, on the motorway from the Rizoelia roundabout to Xylotympos, the tangential traffic lane of the central island in the direction of Agia Napa will be closed in sections for a length of 1.5 km. each time and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane. Larnaca-Kofinou Motorway On the slopes of all the Larnaca District motorways, as well as the “Kalo Chorio” and “Rizoelia” roundabouts, during the period 01/09/2025 – 31/10/2025, excluding weekends and holidays, between the hours of 08:30-14:30, the Department of Forestry will carry out works, pruning and watering plants. During the works, part of the shoulder of the motorway will be closed, in sections of 300 meters at a time. Traffic will not be affected. Along the entire length of the Larnaca-Kofinou motorway in both directions, including its junctions, from Monday 20/10/2025 to Wednesday 05/11/2025, daily except weekends and holidays, between the hours of 08:30–16:30, work will be carried out on the shoulders and slopes, for cutting, collecting and removing grass, as well as the collection and removal of useless objects. During the work, part of the shoulder of the motorway will be closed in sections, for a length of 500m. at a time. Traffic will be carried out unhindered in the traffic lanes. Larnaca-Nicosia Motorway On the section of the motorway from the junction with Athalassa Avenue in Nicosia, up to the junction with the Nicosia-Limassol Motorway in both directions, from Monday 08/09/2025 until Thursday 30/10/2025, except Friday, Saturday and Sunday, from 21:00 at night until 06:00 in the morning of the next day, horizontal marking works will be carried out periodically. The works will be carried out in sections with one lane closed at a time. On the slopes of all highways in Larnaca District, as well as the “Kalo Chorio” and “Rizoelia” roundabouts, during the period 01/09/2025 – 31/10/2025, excluding weekends and holidays, between the hours of 08:30-14:30, work will be carried out by the Department of Forestry, pruning and watering plants. On the Nicosia-Larnaca motorway, at the Pera Chorio Nisou / Agia Varvara exit, on Monday, 27/10/2025, from 20:00 in the evening until 05:30 in the morning of the following day, road surface removal and resurfacing works will be carried out. During the works, both lanes in the direction of Larnaca will be closed and traffic will be diverted via the next exit, Alambras. Limassol-Nicosia Motorway On the section of the motorway from the junction with Athalassa Avenue in Nicosia, up to the junction with the Nicosia-Larnaca Motorway in both directions, from Monday 08/09/2025 until Thursday 30/10/2025, except Friday, Saturday and Sunday, from 21:00 at night until 06:00 in the morning of the next day, horizontal marking works will be carried out periodically. The works will be carried out in sections with one lane closed at a time. During the period 22/09/2025 – 10/12/2025, works will be carried out to improve the entrance lane to the motorway, from Parekklisia to Limassol. During the works, the shoulder of the motorway will be closed for a length of approximately 300 meters and traffic will continue as normal, without the closure of traffic lanes. From 8/10/2025 until 7/11/2025, daily except weekends and holidays, between the hours of 08:00 – 16:00, on the old Nicosia – Limassol road, between the communities of Kalavasos and Mari, maintenance work will be carried out on the bridge safety barriers. During the execution of the work, one lane of traffic will be closed alternately for a length of approximately 20m and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane, using traffic light signals.

On the section of the motorway between Governor's Beach and Skarinou, in the direction towards Nicosia, from Monday 20/10/2025 until Thursday 30/10/2025, except Fridays and weekends and public holidays, between the hours of 20:00 in the evening and 05:30 in the morning of the next day, road maintenance works will be carried out. During the works, the two lanes of the motorway in the direction towards Nicosia will be closed in sections for a length of approximately 3 km and traffic will be diverted to the opposite direction, which will operate with two-way traffic. On the motorway in the direction of Nicosia, at the exit to Kotsiatis, up to the exit to Idalion Industrial Area, on Wednesday, 29/10/2025 and Thursday, 30/10/2025, from 20:00 in the evening until 05:30 in the morning of the next day, road surface removal and resurfacing works will be carried out. During the works, all three lanes of the motorway in the direction of Nicosia will be closed for a length of approximately 3 km and traffic will be diverted to one lane in the opposite traffic flow that will operate with two-way traffic. Also, due to the above works, the entrance / exit to and from Kotsiatis will be closed and traffic will be diverted via the next exit to Idalion Industrial Area and then via the old Nicosia-Limassol road. Nicosia Perimeter Motorway From Monday 13/10/2025, at 07:00 in the morning and for a period of approximately 6 months, as part of the construction of the Nicosia Perimeter Motorway, Phase B3, the 2 northern lanes of the road towards the government settlements of Anthoupolis, from the junction with the Nicosia - Paleochori road for a length of 350 meters will be closed to traffic. During the execution of the works, traffic towards the government settlements of Anthoupolis and vice versa will be carried out via Agios Georgios Avenue and Orthodoxy Street. Traffic towards Andromedas Street and vice versa will be carried out in the two southern lanes with a two-way direction. Limassol Bypass From Monday 13/10/2025 until Tuesday 18/11/2025, excluding weekends, between the hours of 07:00 – 15:00, logging work on burnt trees will be carried out by the Forestry Department on the Koilani – Vouni road. During the work, one lane of traffic, approximately 100m long, will be closed at any time and traffic will be managed alternately with the “STOP & GO” system with appropriate signage. On the Limassol bypass road and on the section of the Paphos-Limassol motorway, from the Kolossi exit to the New Limassol Hospital exit, from Monday 20/10/2025 to Thursday 23/10/2025 and from Monday 27/10/2025 to Thursday 30/10/2025, excluding holidays, between the hours of 21:00 at night and 05:00 in the morning of the next day, maintenance work will be carried out on the road surface lines. During the work, one lane of traffic will be closed in sections at any time for a length of approximately 300m and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane. Limassol-Paphos Motorway On the section of the Paphos-Limassol motorway, from the Kolossi exit to the New Limassol Hospital exit and on the Limassol bypass, from Monday 20/10/2025 to Thursday 23/10/2025 and from Monday 27/10/2025 to Thursday 30/10/2025, excluding public holidays, between the hours of 21:00 at night and 05:00 in the morning of the next day, maintenance work will be carried out on the roadway lines. During the work, one lane of traffic will be closed in sections at any time for a length of approximately 300m and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane. From Monday 27/10/2025 to Friday 31/10/2025, excluding holidays, from 08:00 to 15:00, cleaning works will be carried out on the Paphos-Limassol motorway, in both directions. During the works, the left lane will be partially closed and traffic will be diverted to the right lane. Temporary signage for a mobile construction site on the motorway will be used. On the section of the Paphos-Limassol motorway, from the Kolossi exit to the New Limassol Hospital exit, in the direction of Limassol, from Monday 27/10/2025 to Thursday 30/10/2025, excluding holidays. Between 21:00 at night and 05:30 the next morning, roadway maintenance works will be carried out. During the works, one lane will be closed at any time for a length of approximately 300m and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane. Nicosia-Kokkinotrimithia Motorway At the exit of the Nicosia-Kokkinotrimithia Motorway towards the Nicosia-Palaichori road, as well as at the Anthoupolis roundabout, on Wednesday 29 October 2025 between the hours of 09:30 – 15:00, road lighting maintenance works will be carried out by the Department of Electromechanical Services. During the works, the left lane will be closed for a length of 1500m. approximately and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane. Nicosia District In Nicosia, on Digeni Akrita Avenue, between its intersections with Nikodimou Mylona Street and Kallipoleos Avenue, from 30/06/2025 to 24/11/2025, repair, maintenance and reinforcement works of the existing culvert will be carried out. During the works, a section of one lane of Digeni Akrita Avenue in the direction of Pallouriotissa/Kaimakli will be closed sequentially for approximately 50m and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane. In addition, both lanes in this direction will be closed during the days when concreting works are carried out and traffic will be diverted via alternative routes. Separate announcements will be issued for these cases to better inform the public. On Digeni Akrita Avenue, the underground works between the intersections with Nikodimou Mylona Street and Olympia Street have been completed 2 weeks earlier than planned. Therefore, from 06:00 on Monday, October 6, 2025 until 06:00 on Friday, November 14, 2025, the next phase of repair, maintenance and reinforcement of the existing culvert will be carried out on Digeni Akrita Avenue, between Olympia and Kleomenos Streets. During the works, the lanes of Digeni Akrita Avenue from Nicosia to Palouriotissa will be closed to traffic, between its intersections with Nikodimou Mylona Street and Kleomenous Street. The right-hand direction towards Nikodimou Mylona Street will remain open. Drivers from Nicosia to Palouriotissa are urged to use Kritis, Kypranoros, Androkleous streets and then Stasandrou/Pindarou streets and Stasinou Avenue for their journeys. To move to Kallipoleos Street, drivers are urged to use Nikodimou Mylona Street. To return to Digeni Akrita, drivers are urged to use Nikodimou Mylona, ​​Damaskinou, Olympia, Eressou, Kallipoleos, Ifigenias, Dervenia, Efthimio Chatzipetrou and Georgiou Griva Digeni streets. Traffic heading from Palouriotissa to Makariou Avenue will not be affected by the works. In Lakatamia and Strovolos, also in the context of the works being carried out on Ippokratous, Argyroupoleos, and Tseriou Avenues, from Tuesday 27/05/2025 and for a period of approximately 6 months, the photo-controlled intersection of Tseriou Avenue with Theofilou Georgiadis Street will be abolished and part of Theofilou Georgiadis Street will be temporarily closed to traffic, up to its intersection with Ergatikattas Street. All movements from Theofilou Georgiadis Street to and from Tseriou Avenue will be made via the temporary light-controlled intersection with Vasilissis Amalias Street. As part of the works for the Improvement/Construction Project of Ippokratous, Argyroupoleos Avenues and part of Tseriou Avenue in Strovolos, on Wednesday, October 29, 2025 at 12:00 noon, the two southern lanes of the new Ippokratous Avenue will be opened to traffic, which will operate in a two-way direction. As part of the works to complete the northern lanes, access from Ippokratous Street (existing road) to Nikaias Street will be temporarily closed. Drivers coming from the area north of Ippokratous should follow a route through Vatylis, Agios Dimitrianou, Orfeos streets, and enter the new Ippokratous avenue, from the roundabout at its junction with Melinas Mercouri street. Traffic from the south from Nikaias street to Ippokratous avenue will be diverted via a temporary intersection. Karavostasiou street will remain closed and traffic will be diverted via Vatylis street, as is currently the case. Traffic on Themistokleous street will be conducted in both directions, from its junction with the new Ippokratous avenue to Tseriou avenue. In Nicosia and Aglantzia, as part of the project “Improvement of Famagusta Avenue in Nicosia”, works lasting 24 months are underway from 20 February 2025, which are expected to be completed by 22 February 2027. Specifically, it includes Famagusta Avenue from its junction with Kalavryton Street to the Sopaz roundabout, approximately 1.7 km long. and a secondary road network of approximately 0.8 km long, consisting of a section of Kalavryton, Paphos, Madaris and Semelis streets. Within the framework of the “Improvement of Famagusta Avenue in Nicosia” Project, during the period 24/04/2025-12/12/2025, the following traffic regulations will apply: Kalavryton Street with its junction with Famagusta will be closed. Drivers are invited to use Faliro Street for their transition to the Sopaz roundabout. To travel to Larnaca Avenue, drivers are requested to use Terpsichoris Street, respectively.
Paphos Street will also be closed to traffic. Drivers using this road to travel to the area are requested to use Gogou Paraskevaidi Street, which is parallel to Paphos Street and was specifically constructed for this purpose. Residents of the Paphos Street area who wish to travel to Larnaca Avenue are requested to use Kantaras Street, while those wishing to travel to the Sopaz roundabout are requested to use Gogou Paraskevaidi Street for this purpose.
Limassol District Works on the Trimiklini-Platra road, near Pera Pedi, will continue from Monday, 27/10/2025 until Friday, 31/10/2025, excluding holidays, between the hours of 07:00 – 16:00, for maintenance of the asphalt pavement. During the work, one lane of traffic will be closed at any time, approximately 100m long. and traffic will be managed alternately with the “STOP & GO” system with appropriate signaling. On the Parekklisia-Eptagonia road, on Sunday, 26/10/2025, between the hours of 07:00 – 16:00, asphalt pavement maintenance works will be carried out. During the work, one lane of traffic will be closed at any time, approximately 100m long. approximately and traffic management will be carried out alternately with the “STOP & GO” system with appropriate signaling. On the Souni-Kivides road, from Monday 27/10/2025 until Friday 31/10/2025, excluding holidays, between the hours of 07:00 – 15:00, logging work on burned trees will be carried out by a crew of the Department of Public Works. During the course of the work, one lane of traffic of approximately 100m in length will be closed at any time and traffic management will be carried out alternately with the “STOP & GO” system with appropriate signaling. Larnaca District On the Larnaca-Dhekelia coastal road, as part of the construction works of the Project “Improvement of the Larnaca-Dhekelia Coastal Road Phase C”, traffic, from the height of the LEBAY Hotel to the Radisson Beach Hotel, from April 24, 2025 and for six months, will be diverted via Galaxia Street in Oroklini, while part of it, near the BORONIA Hotel, will be closed. In addition, the road connecting Oroklini with the Larnaca-Dhekelia coastal road, at the height of the Oroklini Fire Station and the HENIPA Hotel, from April 24, 2025 and for two months, will be closed to traffic in both directions. Traffic will be diverted via Bella-Pais, Olympos and Athinon Streets in Oroklini. Drivers are urged to be careful.
