The Cyprus Confederation of Organizations of Disabled People (KYSOA) will provide Decision Support Consultant services to people with disabilities, following an agreement signed today between the Department of Social Integration of People with Disabilities (CYEAA) and KYSOA for the implementation of the project of "Decision Support Consultant Services".
In a statement, the Deputy Ministry of Social Welfare states that through the agreement, which was signed in the presence of the Deputy Minister of Social Welfare, Marilena Evangelou, by the Deputy Director of TKEAA, Christina Flourentzou, and the President of KYSOA, Themis Anthopoulou, KYSOA is assigned the provision of Decision Support Consultant services on a nationwide basis.
"For the implementation of the agreement, KYSOA will gradually hire 80 consultants, to support approximately 4,000 adults with disabilities, with an emphasis on people with intellectual or mental disabilities," it is noted.
"Decision Support Counsellors, among other things, will support the person with a disability to ensure the necessary information for decisions they will make, monitor and support the person in the implementation of each decision and support the person with a disability to express their decision," it added.
"This is a service, which is included in the New Network of Social Integration Services for People with Disabilities, which was approved on 08/10/2025 by the Council of Ministers and provides for the introduction or expansion of eight services, which are part of the major reform promoted for People with Disabilities", it is pointed out.
Specifically, these are Decision Support Consultants, Trainers of People with Disabilities, Personal Work Assistants, Labour Integration Professionals, Social Escorts, Cypriot Sign Language Interpreters, Providers of Supported Living Services Programs and Psychologists of Early Family Support.
The project entitled "New Network of Social Inclusion Services for People with Disabilities" is part of the co-financed Cohesion Policy program "THALIA 2021-2027".
