An objection to the further detention of the 26-year-old foreigner, who is in custody as a suspect for the crime of premeditated murder of her 31-year-old partner, was submitted by her lawyers today before the Limassol District Court where a renewal of her detention was requested. The Court reserved its decision for Thursday, October 9.

The investigators of the TAE Limassol requested her further detention for another eight days. However, the suspect's lawyers, Paris Loizou and Marina Lavithia, filed an objection to the detention of their client, raising various issues regarding the initial actions taken in the case by the Police.

During the cross-examination, the lawyer of the suspect, Paris Loizou, posed a series of questions to the investigator, regarding the actions of the Police from the moment the call was received for the incident, until the arrival of the ambulance and the autopsy. Central to his argument was the absence of a record of the wounds in the victim's abdomen before the autopsy — a fact that, he argued, could have directed the investigations differently.

As part of the procedure, the investigator stated that before the autopsy, which was performed on September 29, the case was being investigated as an unnatural death, with no indication of criminal activity. As he said, no member of the medical or nursing staff, nor any other police officer, had reported the existence of penetrating wounds before the autopsy, which was performed a day later. As heard during the cross-examination of the witness, the transport of the body of the 31-year-old was done by a funeral home and not by a special Police vehicle.

As heard during the proceedings, from the on-site examinations carried out in the apartment where the suspect and the victim lived, various items were identified which were sent for specialized examinations.

A pair of kitchen scissors were taken from the apartment, with a broken handle, as well as a grey-red substance found on the wall, behind the door of the room, near the window through which the victim allegedly climbed.

Among the items sent to the laboratories were fingerprints found on the aluminium of the window, high right, at the point where — according to the testimony — the victim climbed to try to enter the balcony of the apartment. The fingerprints were identified with the victim.

In an investigative statement taken, the suspect refused to answer the investigators' questions.

According to testimonies received from tenants of the apartment building who noticed the incident, 10-15 noises were heard that night, referring to knocks on a door, as well as an even louder knock. Immediately after, they heard the suspect calling for help.

During the investigation of the case and the taking of statements, written testimony emerged according to which the suspect allegedly had sexual relations with another person at the same time, without the knowledge of the victim. According to the testimony, when the victim suspected infidelity, he beat her.

It should also be noted that the suspect is pregnant and was examined by medical examiners Angeliki Papetta and Orthodox Orthodoxou. The findings will be recorded in the relevant report they will prepare. Preliminarily, some small, old abrasions were found on the wrist of her hand.

In a new statement by the suspect on October 5, she was asked 60 questions, but she did not answer any.

Five investigations have been carried out into the case and 33 statements have been taken, while three forensic examinations have been carried out.

Another 29 testimonies are expected to be received and the results of the scientific examinations to be completed.

A case involving usury, extortion, threats and assault is hidden behind the two criminal actions in the offices of a contracting company and after the complaint of a businessman who names the 43-year-old as a suspect, since he only has financial differences with him.

The suspect denies involvement, with his lawyers, Victor Akamas and Orthodoxia Grigoriou, objecting to the request for detention, talking about "statements and information of the café by the complainant".

The Court, after hearing both sides, reserved its decision within the day.

According to what was brought before the Limassol District Court, the complainant testified on October 8 that he had borrowed €400.000 from the suspect in the period 2021-2022, with an agreed interest that would reach — €1 million by the end of 2023.

The businessman claims that he paid the amount of €400,000 plus €200,000 (principal and part of the interest), but requested an extension until spring 2024 due to financial difficulties. According to the report, the suspect reacted by demanding additional interest on the remaining amount of €800.000, which he refused to pay.

Two days before the extension expired, on December 29, 2023, the 43-year-old allegedly attacked the businessman in Nicosia. A relevant complaint was made about the incident and the case is pending before the Court for the offenses of extortion, threat for the purpose of theft, threat and usury.

According to his testimony to the Police, the complainant was informed by his acquaintances that the suspect was threatening his associates and friends, asking them to pressure him to pay him the money "otherwise he would damage his businesses".

In fact, on September 22, 2025, as the complainant reported, a specific person from Nicosia visited him and told him that the suspect expressed to several of his people that he (the complainant) would murder him.

At the same time, the complainant received information that the 43-year-old boasted that he had third parties shoot at his company's offices.

The suspect's lawyer, Victor Akamas, asked for the detention request to be rejected, citing "lack of evidence" and "vague information". He said that the information on which the complainant relies "is café talk" and not evidence.

He also asked for the oath of the arrest warrant to be submitted to the Court, arguing that it contains inaccuracies that may mislead Justice.

The suspect is being investigated for the offenses of conspiracy, illegal possession and transport of explosives and a type A firearm, attempted destruction of property with explosives, as well as interference in a judicial process.

The offences were allegedly committed between July 3 and October 7, 2025.
