 Filenews 3 October 2025

A coordinated operation was carried out by the Customs Department in collaboration with the Office for Combating Offenses of Theft of Intellectual Property and Illegal Betting of the Police, in prefabricated premises of itinerant vendors at the trade fair of Agios Kyprianou in Meniko.

During the investigation, about 210 pieces of fashion accessories, mainly bags and wallets, were identified, which were imitations of well-known brands and were sold with the intention of misleading consumers as authentic products.

The products were confiscated, as the owners of the premises admitted the offenses and abandoned them for destruction.

At the same time, a proposal for an out-of-court settlement of the cases was accepted.

From a very serious craniocerebral injury caused by blunt instrument used by her ex-partner, the 58-year-old Iranian woman died.  Her ex-partner has voluntarily confessed to her murder.

This was shown by the forensic examination and autopsy carried out today by the medical examiners Angeliki Papetta, head of the Forensic Service and Orthodox Orthodox, on the body of the unfortunate woman. As it turned out, the 58-year-old received more than one blow with an iron bar to the head before falling covered in blood in front of her daughter's eyes.

Medical examiners have also taken samples for toxicological tests, while the findings seem to be in line with the admission of her 62-year-old ex-partner, with whom she had long since divorced. In fact, according to information from the Police, the one who inflicted the fatal injuries on her rushed to the nearby police station and reported to the constables: "I have bad news, I killed my wife..."

The alleged perpetrator was arrested for premeditated murder and is already under eight-day detention, while in the house where the femicide occurred, the instrument of murder, an iron used in construction, was also found, which was received by the investigators of the TAE Nicosia as evidence.

Meanwhile, the details of the murder are shocking, since it was committed in front of the eyes of the daughter of the former couple, while her two-year-old girl was in an adjacent room. As Police spokeswoman Koulla Lambrianidou reported yesterday, the couple lived together from time to time despite their separation and this caused further tension in their relations. However, an episode of domestic violence had never been reported.

It is noted that after the fatal blows to the 58-year-old woman, her daughter informed the Police about the crime and asked for help. An ambulance that picked up the injured woman unconscious, transported her to Nicosia General Hospital, but she died on the way.

The 39-year-old wanted for the attempted murder of the 42-year-old Ukrainian, committed on Monday night (29/9) in the outdoor reception area of a hotel complex in the coastal area of Limassol, appeared together with his lawyer at the offices of TAE Limassol today at noon (2/10).

As philenews is informed, the 39-year-old has not yet given a statement to the investigators of the case, however, this is expected to happen.

The 39-year-old is expected to appear before the Limassol District Court tomorrow for the issuance of a detention order. It is recalled that a 44-year-old Russian is also wanted for the case.

As far as the case is concerned, the investigations of the investigative team of the TAE Limassol are at a good stage. As our website is in a position to know, the 42-year-old Ukrainian, victim of the assassination attempt, has given a statement to the investigators of the Limassol TAE, without, however, essentially clarifying the case. Apart from the incident outside the hotel, he does not seem to refer to the motive behind the attempted murder against him, an element that could contribute to the investigation of the case. In relation to his health condition, he is considered good and is not in any danger.

The same attitude is said to have been taken by the businessman's friends, who were also called to testify, but without giving details or substantial information. According to the same information, the victim's friends described that they were in the hotel café, where both the victim and the perpetrator were present. They claimed that they were sitting at a different table, they reported about the fight outside the hotel, however, they avoided going into details.

Evidence from the apartment is being examined

The investigators of the case are waiting for the results of the scientific examinations on evidence found in the apartment of one of the two wanted persons, who is said to be the person who shot the 42-year-old Ukrainian. The apartment had been located and placed under surveillance by the Limassol Police since the same night of the attempt.

During the search, which took place on Tuesday, two pistol magazines - one of which was full - burglary tools, five mobile phones, as well as various documents, including identity cards and passports, were found and confiscated.

The investigators of the TAE Limassol continue the investigations to solve the case, while the attitude of the victim and his friends raises questions about the motives of the criminal act, which seem to be related to professional activities.
