An important development in the case of Simon Mistriel Aykut, who is accused of large-scale usurpation of Greek Cypriot properties in the occupied territories.

As one of his lawyers, Maria Neophytou, stated before the Permanent Criminal Court of Nicosia, the hearing of the case will not continue.

She said that there would be a change of answer on the part of her client (she had stated non-admission) and that charges would be dropped.

She therefore asked for a time limit of 20 minutes to settle the issue of the accusations. She spoke of the preparation of "admissible facts" with the aim of mitigating the sentence.

What she said was also confirmed by Vassilis Bissas, who represented the prosecution and appeared on behalf of Andreas Aristidis, who is handling the case.

The Criminal Court temporarily suspended the proceedings, which will resume shortly.

Simply put, the 74-year-old Aykut will admit charges for which he will be sentenced and a number of other charges will be withdrawn.

The case was revealed after the Romanian authorities informed the Cypriot authorities on Saturday, August 9.

Members of the Paphos Crime Investigation Department went to the hotel for which information was given that the 48-year-old was probably detained, but she was not located.

Later that same day, members of the Police, however, located the 48-year-old outside Paphos airport, together with the 58-year-old and she, at the sight of the police, began to call for help.

The members of the force approached her and she told them that after she arrived in Cyprus with the 58-year-old, five days ago, they were staying in a hotel in the city, where the 58-year-old did not allow her to go out without his escort, while on two occasions, he took her to a specific property in Paphos, where he forced her to meet with customers of the specific property, against payment.
