With the traditional coronation of the city's monuments and the in-school celebrations, the celebrations for the 28th of October began today in Paphos.
Tonight at 7.00 the Municipality of Paphos organizes the pan-municipal festive event at the Markideio Theater with speaker the professor of the University of Cyprus, Georgios Kazamias and on the subject of the landmarks of the memory of Hellenism everywhere, 85 years after the epic of 1940.
Tomorrow, on the day of October 28, the celebrations in Paphos will begin at dawn with bell ringing and a 'roar in the streets' by the Philharmonic of the Municipality of Paphos at 6.30am. At 10.00 am, the traditional Doxology will be held at the Metropolitan Church of Agios Theodoros, officiated by the Archimandrite of the Metropolis of Paphos, Ioannis Theocharous.
The celebratory speech of the day will be delivered by Dr. Mary Ioannidou Koutselini and immediately afterwards the memorial service and laying of wreaths will take place at the Column of October 28 in front of the Municipal Hall.
The celebrations will culminate at 11.15 am with the established parade on Griva Digeni Avenue, the greeting of which will be received on behalf of the Government by the Minister of Energy, Commerce and Industry, Giorgos Papanastasiou, from a platform at the entrance of the Paphos A Lyceum.
The events will end at 6.00pm tomorrow, with the traditional reception hosted by the Metropolis of Paphos, the National Guard and the Municipality of Paphos at the National Guard Club, on Griva Digeni Avenue.
