POLICE - STRIKE 11 SEPTEMBER

POLICE - STRIKE 11 SEPTEMBER 2025

Tomorrow, Thursday, September 11, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., nationwide strike mobilizations are planned in all the provinces of Cyprus. The mobilizations are organized by the Trade Unions with the aim of promoting the demands of workers (ATA).

At 12:00 noon, gatherings will be held at the following points: • Nicosia – Ministry of Finance • Limassol – Administrative Building • Larnaca – District Administration • Paralimni – District Office of the Ministry of Labour • Paphos – District Administration During the strike mobilizations, traffic on the road network may be affected in the above areas. Therefore, the Police have prepared operational plans in all provinces and will be present to provide traffic facilitation. The public is invited to follow the instructions of the Police for the smooth conduct of the events and for the maintenance of public order.

It should be noted that, based on the Public Gatherings and Parades Law 151(I) of 2025, the organizer of the gathering/parade must ensure its smooth and peaceful conduct, cooperate with the local administrative authority within the limits of which it is taking place, or is expected to take place, with the Police and with the Responsible Officer who is designated as a liaison between the Police and the organizer and comply with their instructions. Furthermore, this legislation enables the Police, where deemed necessary, to impose restrictions on the assembly or parade as well as to disperse it, mainly when it ceases to be peaceful, when it is carried out in violation of the imposed restrictions, when there is a risk of bodily harm to a person or damage to public or private property and in the case of a spontaneous or extraordinary assembly or parade, when there is no compliance with the imposed restrictions. Furthermore, in the event that there is reasonable suspicion that the gathering or parade is about to become non-peaceful, due to the actions of a person, or in the context of the commission, or potential commission of offences by a person who conceals, covers, or alters his characteristics in a way that he cannot be identified, the Police may order him to remove the said object, product, or device, which renders him unrecognizable.
