MAJOR ROAD WORKS
Larnaca-Famagusta Motorway On the slopes of all the Larnaca District motorways, as well as the “Kalo Chorio” and “Rizoelia” roundabouts, during the period 01/09/2025 – 31/10/2025, excluding weekends and holidays, between the hours of 08:30-14:30, the Department of Forestry will carry out works, pruning and watering plants. During the works, part of the shoulder of the motorway will be closed, in sections of 300 meters at a time. Traffic will not be affected. On the section of the motorway between Xylotympos and Ayia Napa, during the period 08/09/2025–31/10/2025, between the hours of 09:00 in the morning and 05:30 the following morning, weekdays except Fridays, weekends and holidays, emergency door installation works will be carried out on the central island. During the works, a section of the motorway lane adjacent to the central island, from the Xylotympos area to the Ayia Napa roundabout, will be closed, successively for a length of 100 meters each time, simultaneously from both directions, at nine different points.
During the period 22/09/2025 – 17/10/2025, daily, except weekends and holidays, between the hours of 08:30 – 15:00, on sections of the Larnaca-Agia Napa, Larnaca-Nicosia and Larnaca-Kofinou motorways, in the Larnaca District, maintenance work on safety barriers will be carried out. During the work, the left lane will be closed in sections for a length of approximately 200m and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane. On the section of the motorway between the Rizoelia roundabout and Xylotympos, from Monday 29/09/2025 until Monday 06/10/2025, daily except weekends and holidays, between the hours of 08:30 – 16:00, work will be carried out on the central island by the Department of Forestry. During the work, the traffic lane adjacent to the central island, in the direction of Famagusta district, will be closed in sections for a length of 1.5 km. at a time and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane. Larnaca-Kofinou Motorway On the slopes of all the Larnaca District motorways, as well as the “Kalo Chorio” and “Rizoelia” roundabouts, during the period 01/09/2025 – 31/10/2025, excluding weekends and holidays, between the hours of 08:30-14:30, the Department of Forestry will carry out works, pruning and watering plants. On the Larnaca-Kofinou motorway, in sections in both directions, from Tuesday 30/09/2025 until Friday 03/10/2025, excluding holidays, between the hours of 08:30 – 14:30, pruning, clearing of signs and cleaning will be carried out. During the works, one lane of traffic will be closed sequentially for a distance of approximately 200 meters and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane. Larnaca-Nicosia Motorway On the section of the motorway from the junction with Athalassa Avenue in Nicosia, up to the junction with the Nicosia-Limassol Motorway in both directions, from Monday 08/09/2025 until Thursday 30/10/2025, except Friday, Saturday and Sunday, from 21:00 at night until 06:00 in the morning of the next day, horizontal marking works will be carried out periodically. The works will be carried out in sections with one lane closed at a time. On the slopes of all highways in Larnaca District, as well as the “Kalo Chorio” and “Rizoelia” roundabouts, during the period 01/09/2025 – 31/10/2025, excluding weekends and holidays, between the hours of 08:30-14:30, work will be carried out by the Department of Forestry, pruning and watering plants. Limassol-Nicosia Motorway On the section of the motorway from the junction with Athalassa Avenue in Nicosia. At the junction with the Nicosia-Larnaca motorway in both directions, from Monday 08/09/2025 until Thursday 30/10/2025, except Friday, Saturday and Sunday, from 21:00 at night until 06:00 in the morning of the next day, horizontal marking works will be carried out periodically. The works will be carried out in sections with one lane closed at a time. During the period 22/09/2025 – 10/12/2025, works will be carried out to improve the entrance lane to the motorway, from Parekklisia to Limassol. During the works, the shoulder of the motorway will be closed for a length of approximately 300 meters and traffic will proceed normally, without the closure of traffic lanes. On the section of the motorway between Mouttagiaka and Parekklisia, in the direction towards Nicosia, from Wednesday 24/09/2025 to Thursday 02/10/2025, excluding Fridays, weekends and public holidays, between the hours of 20:00 in the evening and 05:30 in the morning of the next day, road maintenance works will be carried out. During the works, the two lanes of the motorway in the direction towards Nicosia will be closed in sections for a length of approximately 3 km and traffic will be diverted to the opposite direction, which will operate with two-way traffic. On the section of the motorway from the GSP roundabout to the Kotsiati exit, in the direction from Nicosia to Limassol, on Friday 26/09/2025, from 22:00 at night until 06:00 the next morning, cleaning works will be carried out on the central island. During the works, the right lane will be closed in sections and the works will be carried out using the mobile workshop method. Limassol-Paphos Motorway On sections of the motorway, in both directions, towards Limassol and towards Paphos, from Monday 22/09/2025 until Friday 03/10/2025, excluding weekends and holidays, from 08:30 to 15:00, the Department of Forestry will carry out works on the central dividing island, on a road length of 1.5 - 2 km/per day, for a total length of approximately 17.5 km. During the works, the right lane will be closed in sections and traffic will be diverted to the left lane. Nicosia District In the Anthoupolis area, in Lakatamia, near the photo-controlled intersection of Anthoupolis Avenue, with the Palaichori-Anthoupolis-Nicosia road, on Thursday 02/10/2025 and Friday 03/10/2025, between the hours of 09:30 – 14:00, road lighting installation works will be carried out. During the works, the tangential traffic lane of the central island towards Nicosia will be closed periodically, for a length of approximately 500m. each time and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent traffic lane. In Nicosia, on Digeni Akrita Avenue, between its intersection with Nikodimou Mylona Street and Kallipoleos Avenue, from 30/06/2025 to 24/11/2025, repair, maintenance and reinforcement works of the existing culvert will be carried out. During the works, a section of one lane of Digeni Akrita Avenue towards Pallouriotissa/Kaimakli will be closed sequentially for approximately 50m and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane. In addition, both lanes in this direction will be closed during the days when concreting works are carried out and traffic will be diverted via alternative routes. Separate announcements will be issued for these cases to better inform the public. On Digeni Akrita Avenue in Nicosia, from Monday 1 September 2025 until 06:00 on Friday 17 October 2025, repair, maintenance and reinforcement works of the existing culvert will be carried out. During the works, the lanes of Digeni Akrita Avenue from Nicosia to Palouriotissa between its intersections with Nikodimou Mylona and Olympia Streets will be closed to traffic. The right-hand direction towards Nikodimou Mylona Street will remain open. Drivers from Nicosia to Palouriotissa are urged to use Kritis, Kypranoros, Androkleous streets and then Stassandrou/Pindarou streets and Stassinou Avenue for their travel. Drivers from Nicosia to Kallipoleos are advised to use Nikodimou Mylona Street for their journeys. To return to Digeni Akrita, drivers are advised to use Nikodimou Mylona, Damaskinou and Olympia Streets. Traffic from Palouriotissa to Makariou Avenue will not be affected by the works. In Lakatamia and Strovolos, as part of the works being carried out on Ippokratous, Argyroupoleos, Tseriou and Strovolos Avenues, from Wednesday 07/05/2025 and for a period of approximately 5 months. The intersection of Georgiou Anagnostopoulou Street with Tseriou Avenue will be closed. During this period, traffic to and from Tseriou Avenue will be conducted via Georgiou Iona Street, where a photo-controlled intersection will operate to regulate traffic. In Lakatamia and Strovolos, also in the context of the works being carried out on Ippokratous, Argyroupoleos, and Tseriou Avenues, from Tuesday 27/05/2025 and for a period of approximately 6 months, the photo-controlled intersection of Tseriou Avenue with Theofilou Georgiadis Street is being abolished and part of Theofilou Georgiadis Street will be temporarily closed to traffic, up to its intersection with Ergatikattas Street. All movements from Theofilou Georgiadis Street to and from Tseriou Avenue will be made via the temporary photo-controlled intersection with Vasilissis Amalias Street. In Nicosia and Aglantzia, as part of the project “Improvement of Famagusta Avenue in Nicosia”, works lasting 24 months are underway from 20 February 2025, which are expected to be completed by 22 February 2027. Specifically, Famagusta Avenue is included from its intersection with Kalavryton Street to the Sopaz roundabout, approximately 1.7 km long. and a secondary road network approximately 0.8 km long, consisting of a section of Kalavryton, Pafos, Madaris and Semelis streets. As part of the “Improvement of Famagusta Avenue in Nicosia” Project, the following traffic regulations will be in place from 24/04/2025 to 12/12/2025: Kalavryton Street at its junction with Famagusta will be closed. Drivers are asked to use Faliro Street to get to Sopaz roundabout. Drivers are asked to use Terpsichoris Street to get to Larnaca Avenue. Pafos Street will also be closed to traffic. Drivers using this road to get to the area are asked to use Gogou Paraskevaidi Street, which is parallel to Pafos Street and was specifically constructed for this purpose. Residents of the Pafos Street area who wish to travel towards Larnaca Avenue are requested to use Kantaras Street, while those who wish to travel towards the Sopaz roundabout are requested to use Gogou Paraskevaidi Street for this purpose. Limassol District On the Platres-Prodromos road (E804), in sections of the road between Agios Dimitrios and Paleomylos, during the period 07/07/2025 – 30/09/2025, between the hours of 07:00 – 15:00, retaining wall erection works will be carried out. During the course of the works, one lane of traffic of approximately 100m in length will be closed at any time and traffic will be managed alternately with the “STOP & GO” system with appropriate signage. On the Malia-Mandria and Prastiou-Avdimou roads, during the period 30/06/2025–30/09/2025, between the hours of 07:00-15:00, construction works of retaining walls will be carried out on sections of the roads. During the course of the works, one lane of traffic of approximately 100m in length will be closed at any time and traffic will be managed alternately with the “STOP & GO” system with appropriate signage. Larnaca District In the area of the Choirokitia Community, on the old Nicosia-Limassol road, during the period 01/09/2025–26/09/2025, between the hours of 08:00 – 16:00, maintenance works of bridge safety parapets will be carried out. During the works, one lane of traffic will be closed alternately for a length of approximately 20m and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane, using traffic light signals. On the old Larnaca-Kofinos road, near the Community of Klavdia, during the period 09/09/2025–26/09/2025, between the hours of 08:00–16:00, daily, except weekends, bridge safety parapet maintenance work will be carried out. During the works, one lane of traffic will be closed alternately for a length of approximately 20m and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane, using temporary traffic lights. Also on the old Larnaca-Kofinos road, between the communities of Menogia and Kofinos, during the period 18/09/2025–03/10/2025, daily except weekends and holidays, between the hours of 08:00 – 16:00, maintenance work on bridge safety parapets will be carried out. During the work, one lane of traffic will be closed alternately for a length of approximately 20m and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane, with the use of temporary traffic lights. On the Larnaca-Dhekelia coastal road, as part of the construction works of the "Improvement of the Larnaca-Dhekelia Coastal Road Phase C" Project, traffic, from the height of the LEBAY hotel to the Radisson Beach hotel, from April 24, 2025 and for six months, will be diverted via Galaxia Street in Oroklini, while part of it, near the BORONIA hotel, will be closed.In addition, the road connecting Oroklini with the Larnaca-Dhekelia coastal road, at the height of the Oroklini Fire Station and the HENIPA Hotel, will be closed to traffic in both directions from April 24, 2025 for two months. Traffic will be diverted via Bella-Pais, Olympos and Athinon streets to Oroklini. Drivers are urged to be careful.
