MAJOR ROAD WORKS
Larnaca-Famagusta Motorway During the period 27/08/2025 – 11/09/2025, between the hours of 08:30 – 15:30, excluding Fridays and weekends, the Department of Forestry will carry out watering works on the central island of the motorway, from Larnaca Airport to the Rizoelia roundabout. During the works, the lane adjacent to the central island of the motorway from one direction will be closed in sections, 1.5 km long at a time. On the slopes of all highways in Larnaca District, as well as the “Kalo Chorio” and “Rizoelia” roundabouts, during the period 01/09/2025 – 31/10/2025, excluding weekends and holidays, between the hours of 08:30-14:30, work will be carried out by the Department of Forestry, pruning and watering plants. During the work, part of the shoulder of the highway will be closed, in sections of 300 meters at a time. Traffic will not be affected. On the section of the motorway between Xylotympos and Ayia Napa, during the period 08/09/2025–31/10/2025, between the hours of 09:00 in the morning and 05:30 the following morning, weekdays except Fridays, weekends and holidays, emergency door installation works will be carried out on the central island. During the works, a section of the motorway lane adjacent to the central island, from the Xylotympos area to the Ayia Napa roundabout, will be closed, successively for a length of 100 meters each time, simultaneously from both directions, at nine different points.
Larnaca-Kofinou Motorway During the period 01/09/2025 to 16/09/2025, between the hours of 08:30 – 15:30, except Fridays and weekends, the Department of Forestry will carry out watering works on the central island of the motorway, from the Kalo Chorio roundabout to Kofinou. During the works, the lane adjacent to the central island of the motorway from one direction will be closed in sections, 1.5 km long at a time. On the slopes of all highways in Larnaca District, as well as the “Kalo Chorio” and “Rizoelia” roundabouts, during the period 01/09/2025 – 31/10/2025, excluding weekends and holidays, between the hours of 08:30-14:30, work will be carried out by the Department of Forestry, pruning and watering plants. On the motorway between Larnaca Airport and Rizoelia roundabout, from Thursday 04/09/2025 until Monday 08/09/2025, daily except weekends, between the hours of 08:30 – 14:30, grass cutting and cleaning works will be carried out. During the works, the Aradippou Industrial Area exit in the direction of Larnaca Airport to Rizoelia will remain closed and vehicle traffic will be diverted from the Aradippou exit (West). Larnaca-Nicosia Motorway During the period 27/08/2025 – 11/09/2025, between the hours of 08:30 – 15:30, excluding Fridays and weekends, the Department of Forestry will carry out watering works on the central island of the motorway, from the Rizoelia roundabout to the exit to Nisou. During the works, the lane adjacent to the central island of the motorway from one direction will be closed in sections, 1.5 km long at a time. On the Nicosia-Larnaca motorway, from the junction with the Nicosia-Limassol motorway to the Rizoelia roundabout, in the direction of Larnaca, on Monday 01/09/2025 and Monday 08/09/2025, between the hours of 09:30 – 13:30, periodic works will be carried out to remove, move and reinstall signs. During the works, the left lane of the motorway will be closed locally for approximately 100 meters and traffic will be diverted to the right lane. On the slopes of all highways in Larnaca District, as well as the “Kalo Chorio” and “Rizoelia” roundabouts, during the period 01/09/2025 – 31/10/2025, excluding weekends and holidays, between the hours of 08:30-14:30, work will be carried out by the Department of Forestry, pruning and watering plants. Limassol-Nicosia Motorway On the section of the motorway between Strovolos/Latsia and Alambra, from Monday 01/09/2025 until Thursday 11/09/2025, from 20:30 in the evening until 06:00 in the morning of the next day, except Fridays and Saturdays, work will be carried out on the central island to repair safety barriers. During the work, the tangential traffic lane of the central island will be closed in sections in both directions, for a length of approximately 500m each time and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent traffic lanes.Limassol-Paphos Motorway During the period 27/08/2025 – 10/09/2025, excluding weekends, between the hours of 08:30 – 15:00, on the central island of the motorway, irrigation works will be carried out by the Department of Forestry, for a total length of approximately 17.5 kilometers. During the works, the lane adjacent to the central island of the motorway will be closed in sections in both directions, for a length of 1.5 km at a time. Nicosia-Kokkinotrimithia Motorway On the Nicosia-Nicosia direction, on the section of the motorway between the Denia exit and the Mammari exit, from Monday 08/09/2025 until Thursday 11/09/2025, from 20:00 in the evening until 05:30 in the morning of the next day, road surface removal and resurfacing works will be carried out. Traffic on the Denia-Nicosia motorway in the direction of Nicosia will be diverted to the opposite traffic flow, which will operate in two-way traffic. Nicosia District In Nicosia, on Digeni Akrita Avenue, between its intersections with Nikodimou Mylona Street and Kallipoleos Avenue, from 30/06/2025 to 24/11/2025, repair, maintenance and reinforcement works of the existing culvert will be carried out. During the works, a section of one lane of Digeni Akrita Avenue towards Pallouriotissa/Kaimakli will be closed sequentially for approximately 50m and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane. In addition, both lanes in this direction will be closed during the days when concreting works are carried out and traffic will be diverted via alternative routes. Separate announcements will be issued for these cases to better inform the public. On Digeni Akrita Avenue in Nicosia, from Monday 1 September 2025 until 06:00 on Friday 17 October 2025, repair, maintenance and reinforcement works of the existing culvert will be carried out. During the works, the lanes of Digeni Akrita Avenue from Nicosia to Palouriotissa between its intersections with Nikodimou Mylona and Olympia Streets will be closed to traffic. The right-hand direction towards Nikodimou Mylona Street will remain open. Drivers from Nicosia to Palouriotissa are urged to use Kritis, Kypranoros, Androkleous streets and then Stassandrou/Pindarou streets and Stassinou Avenue for their travel. Drivers from Nicosia to Kallipoleos are advised to use Nikodimou Mylona Street for their journeys. To return to Digeni Akrita, drivers are advised to use Nikodimou Mylona, Damaskinou and Olympia Streets. Traffic from Palouriotissa to Makariou Avenue will not be affected by the works. In Lakatamia and Strovolos, as part of the works being carried out on Ippokratous, Argyroupoleos, Tseriou and Strovolos Avenues, from Wednesday 07/05/2025 and for a period of approximately 5 months, the intersection of Georgiou Anagnostopoulou Street with Tseriou Avenue will be closed. During this period, traffic to and from Tseriou Avenue will be conducted via Georgiou Iona Street, where a photo-controlled intersection will operate to regulate traffic. In Lakatamia and Strovolos, also in the context of the works being carried out on Ippokratous, Argyroupoleos, and Tseriou Avenues, from Tuesday 27/05/2025 and for a period of approximately 6 months, the photo-controlled intersection of Tseriou Avenue with Theofilou Georgiadis Street is being abolished and part of Theofilou Georgiadis Street will be temporarily closed to traffic, up to its intersection with Ergatikattas Street. All movements from Theofilou Georgiadis Street to and from Tseriou Avenue will be conducted via the temporary photo-controlled intersection with Vasilissis Amalias Street. In Nicosia and Aglantzia, as part of the project “Improvement of Famagusta Avenue in Nicosia”, works lasting 24 months are underway from 20 February 2025, which are expected to be completed by 22 February 2027. Specifically, they include Famagusta Avenue from its junction with Kalavryton Street to the Sopaz roundabout, approximately 1.7 km long and a secondary road network approximately 0.8 km long, consisting of a section of Kalavryton, Paphos, Madaris and Semelis streets. Within the framework of the “Improvement of Famagusta Avenue in Nicosia” Project, during the period 24/04/2025-12/12/2025, the following traffic regulations will be in place: Kalavryton Street with its junction with Famagusta will be closed. Drivers are asked to use Faliro Street to get to Sopaz roundabout. Drivers are asked to use Terpsichoris Street to get to Larnaca Avenue. Paphos Street will also be closed to traffic. Drivers using this road to get to the area will be asked to use the following traffic regulations: Kalavryton Street with its junction with Famagusta will be closed. Residents of the Pafos Street area who wish to travel towards Larnaca Avenue are requested to use Kantaras Street while those who wish to travel towards the Sopaz roundabout are requested to use Gogou Paraskevaidi Street for this purpose.
Limassol District On the Platres-Prodromos road (E804), on sections of the road between Agios Dimitrios and Palaiomylos, during the period 07/07/2025 – 30/09/2025, between the hours of 07:00 – 15:00, retaining wall erection works will be carried out. During the works, one lane of approximately 100m in length will be closed at any time and traffic will be managed alternately with the “STOP & GO” system with appropriate signage. On the Malia-Mandria and Prastiou-Avdimou roads, during the period 30/06/2025–30/09/2025, between the hours of 07:00-15:00, construction work on retaining walls will be carried out on sections of the roads. During the works, one lane of approximately 100m in length will be closed at any time and traffic will be managed alternately with the “STOP & GO” system with appropriate signage. Larnaca District In the area of the Choirokitia Community, on the old Nicosia-Limassol road, during the period 01/09/2025–26/09/2025, between the hours of 08:00 – 16:00, maintenance work on bridge safety barriers will be carried out. During the work, one lane of traffic will be closed alternately for a length of approximately 20m and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane, using traffic light signals. On the Larnaca-Dhekelia coastal road, as part of the construction works of the Project "Improvement of the Larnaca-Dhekelia Coastal Road Phase C", traffic, from the height of the LEBAY Hotel to the Radisson Beach Hotel, from April 24, 2025 and for six months, will be diverted via Galaxia Street in Oroklini, while part of it, near the BORONIA Hotel, will be closed. In addition, the road connecting Oroklini with the Larnaca-Dhekelia coastal road, at the height of the Oroklini Fire Station and the HENIPA Hotel, from April 24, 2025 and for two months, will be closed to traffic in both directions. Traffic will be diverted via Bella-Pais, Olympos and Athinon Streets in Oroklini. Drivers are urged to be careful.
