As of yesterday, September 1st, Hellenic Bank and Eurobank Cyprus turned the page, after the merger of the two banks officially began.
As early as Saturday, the headquarters of Hellenic Bank have changed their sign, while according to information from "F", the works on its branches – the "former" Hellenic Bank – have begun, but it will still take some time to complete.
The transformation has begun
More specifically, the works for the replacement of the signs of the branches in "Eurobank" are expected to be completed in about one to two months, while their interior, with changes in logos, colours and in general to everything that refers to Hellenic Bank, will be modified at a later stage, since, according to the planning, these works will need more time to complete.
Towards the end of this week, the website of Hellenic Bank will also be modified.
As for mobile banking apps now, the apps will be automatically upgraded without affecting customers. The change in apps will be gradual in the coming weeks, as the upgrade cannot be done at the same time for everyone.
These changes will not affect customers, since the login to the applications and their operation will continue normally without the need for any other action on the part of the users.
Also, a key point is that the merger of the two banks will not bring changes to any customer agreements, so there will be no differentiation in terms of loans, liabilities and accounts. In fact, for customers who hold accounts with both banks, multiple benefits will arise.
What customers should look out for
The merger of the two banks will not affect the customer service of Hellenic Bank and Eurobank, but, on the contrary, will bring many benefits. Initially, they will be able to be served by 15 joint branches and then, when the systems are interconnected, by the entire network of the two banks.
Also, another important benefit for the customers of the two banks is the fact that from September 1, 2025, money transfers between Eurobank and Hellenic Bank accounts will be processed free of charge, given that currency conversion and with a date of value of the same day are not included, provided that the relevant orders are sent before the predetermined cut-off times. Transfers will be carried out via the most appropriate shipping method (SEPA or SWIFT).
In addition, for customers who hold accounts with both banks, no account maintenance fee will be applied to the accounts they hold with Eurobank and the update of the data will be carried out only once, without the need to re-submit the data for the remaining accounts.
