EAC SCAM

 Pafos Press 25 September 2025

The EAC is informing the public about new incidents of electronic fraud, warning consumers about misleading emails that appear as notifications of unpaid bills and call for payment via QR Code. See the announcement in full: New cases of misleading notifications (messages) to electricity consumers The EAC informs the public about new incidents of sending misleading electronic messages (emails) to unsuspecting consumers. These messages falsely claim that an unpaid amount is pending on the electricity bill, urging the recipient to scan a QR Code and proceed to pay their bill. It is emphasized that these messages do not originate from the EAC and constitute an attempt at electronic fraud (phishing). The Agency urges the public to be particularly careful with emails that include links or attached files, as these may redirect to misleading or malicious websites, regardless of what is initially displayed.
