Of the 81,000 recalls of vehicles with defective TAKATA airbags, about 33,000 remain pending, according to data provided by the Department of Road Transport (TOM).
As the TOM clarified, the data are updated until last week, as due to summer holidays several companies were closed. The 33,000 include about 5,000 vehicles stopped and another 2,000 deleted, which reduces the actual number of those that need to be repaired by the early October deadline.
At the same time, another 15,000 vehicles have been identified that need a recall for the same problem, with a deadline of eight months from the moment the owners were notified. For these, the restoration process has already begun, however, priority is given to both vehicles that are in immediate immobilization and those on the initial list, as their deadline expires earlier.
The TOM regularly receives information from companies on the completion rate of recalls. As noted, several companies still have free appointments, with the Department calling on those owners who have not responded to do so immediately.
