THE POPULATION OF CYPRUS APPROACHED ONE MILLION IN 2023

The population of Cyprus (De Jure) recorded an increase of 17,300 people at the end of 2023, reaching 966,400, compared to 949,100 in 2022, according to data published on Friday by the Statistical Service.

Of the total, there were 475,600 men and 490,800 women.

The largest age group, based on gender and total population, was the 15–44 age group, which numbered 403,400 people. This was followed by the ages of 45–64 with 243,800 people and those aged 65 and over with 171,600.

More specifically, the most populous age sub-group was 35–39 years old with 81,000 people, while the second place was occupied by 40–44 years old with 77,200.

In both men and women, the 15–44 age group was the most populous. Women in this group were 198,800, while men amounted to 204,600.
