The Cyprus Symphony Orchestra proudly shares the stage with two internationally acclaimed artists: the violinist and conductor Thomas Zehetmair, founder of the celebrated Zehetmair Quartet and former Music Director of the Orchestre de Chambre de Paris and his long-time musical partner, renowned violist Ruth Killius, celebrated for the emotional intensity of her interpretations and rich, refined tone.
The exceptional duo will showcase their interpretative artistry and exceptional musical chemistry in Benjamin Britten’s emotionally charged Double Concerto in B minor for violin, viola and orchestra. The concerto brings forth a compelling dialogue between the two soloists and the orchestra, exploring rich textures and dramatic contrasts.
Britten’s concerto will be preceded by Mozart’s radiant Symphony no. 31 in D major, ‘Paris’, a sparkling and charming work, composed to captivate the sophisticated audiences of 18th-century France.
The concert will conclude with Mozart’s Symphony no. 36 in C major, ‘Linz’, bursting with joyful energy and festive grandeur. It is truly astonishing that Mozart composed it in just four days upon receiving an unexpected invitation for a concert during his stopover at Linz.
