 Filenews 12 August 2025

According to the Department of Labour Inspection (TEE), which is responsible for occupational safety and health issues, today, Tuesday, August 12, 2025, a suspension of certain outdoor works between 12:00 and 16:00 comes into force, provided that the warning is valid.

Tasks that are interrupted

The measure concerns:

  • All outdoor heavy and moderate jobs.
  • Transportation and/or delivery of goods by two-wheeled vehicles, bicycles or electric scooters, including the delivery of food, mail or other items.

The warning applies to the interior of Cyprus (altitude below 300 m, beyond 10 km from the coastline) and higher mountainous areas (altitude above 1,150 m).

Measures for the remaining cases

For areas and jobs that do not fall under the orange level, all measures set out in the Code of Practice for Thermal Stress of Workers should be taken.

Based on the Amending Decree of 2023, when an extremely high temperature warning is issued, specific regulations are mandatory regardless of the organizational or technical measures taken.
