MERCURY SOARS - NEW ORANGE WARNING FOR EXTREME TEMPERATURES COMES INTO FORCE

The mercury persists in the highs, which is expected to reach 43 degrees in the interior and 34 in the higher mountains. The Department of Meteorology has issued an orange warning for today, which comes into force from 11:00 in the morning until 17:00 in the afternoon.

Meanwhile, a yellow warning issued last night will be in effect until 9:00 a.m. on Sunday.

In detail, the weather forecast

Seasonal low pressure and warm gas mass affect the area.

Today, the weather will be mainly clear but also particularly warm, while in the mountains at noon and after, local cloudiness will be observed. The winds in the morning hours, in the eastern half of the island will blow northeast to southeast and in the rest of the areas southwest to northwest, weak to moderate, 3 to 4 Beaufort, however, by the afternoon they will generally become southwest to northwest, of the same intensity. The sea will be generally calm to a little rough. The temperature will rise to around 43 degrees inland, around 37 degrees on the southern, eastern and northern coasts and around 34 degrees on the west coast as well as in the higher mountains.

Tonight, the weather will remain mostly clear. The winds will blow mainly northwest to northeast and locally variable, weak, 3 Beaufort. The sea will be calm to a little turbulent. The temperature will drop to around 27 degrees inland, around 26 degrees on the coast and around 24 degrees in the higher mountains.

On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, the weather will be mainly clear but also particularly warm.

The temperature until Wednesday is not expected to change significantly, remaining noticeably above the average climatic values of the season.
