MAJOR ROAD WORKS
Larnaca-Famagusta Motorway On the motorway, between Larnaca Airport and Rizoelia roundabout, during the period 30/06/2025-31/08/2025, between the hours of 08:30 – 16:30, except Fridays, weekends and holidays, works will be carried out by the Department of Forestry on the central islands of the motorways. During the works, the lane adjacent to the central island of the motorway will be closed in sections in both directions, at a length of 1.5 km each time. During the period 27/08/2025 – 11/09/2025, between the hours of 08:30 – 15:30, excluding Fridays and weekends, the Department of Forestry will carry out watering works on the central island of the motorway, from Larnaca Airport to the Rizoelia roundabout. During the works, the lane adjacent to the central island of the motorway from one direction will be closed in sections, 1.5 km long at a time.
On the slopes of all highways in Larnaca District, as well as the “Kalo Chorio” and “Rizoelia” roundabouts, during the period 01/09/2025 – 31/10/2025, excluding weekends and holidays, between the hours of 08:30-14:30, work will be carried out by the Department of Forestry, pruning and watering plants. During the work, part of the shoulder of the highway will be closed, in sections of 300 meters at a time. Traffic will not be affected. Larnaca-Kofinou Motorway During the period 01/09/2025 to 16/09/2025, between the hours of 08:30 – 15:30, except Fridays and weekends, the Department of Forestry will carry out watering works on the central island of the motorway, from the Kalo Chorio roundabout to Kofinou. During the works, the lane adjacent to the central island of the motorway from one direction will be closed in sections, 1.5 km long at a time. During the works, the lane adjacent to the central island of the motorway will be closed in sections in both directions, at a length of 1.5 km each time. Limassol-Nicosia Motorway On the section of the motorway between Skarinou and Choirokitia, in the direction towards Limassol, from Monday 01/09/2025 until Thursday 04/09/2025, between the hours of 20:00 in the evening and 05:30 in the morning of the next day, periodic maintenance works of the road surface will be carried out. During the works, the two lanes of the motorway in the direction towards Limassol will be closed in sections for a length of approximately 3 km and traffic will be diverted to the opposite direction, which will operate in two-way traffic. The entrance / exit of the motorway at the Skarinou interchange towards Limassol will also be closed. On the section of the motorway between Strovolos/Latsia and Alambra, from Monday 01/09/2025 until Thursday 11/09/2025, from 20:30 in the evening until 06:00 in the morning of the next day, except Fridays and Saturdays and Sundays, work will be carried out on the central island to repair safety barriers. During the work, the tangential traffic lane of the central island will be closed in sections in both directions, for a length of approximately 500m each time and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent traffic lanes. Nicosia Perimeter Motorway From Monday 01/09/2025 until Friday 05/09/2025, from from 08:30 in the morning until 16:30 in the afternoon, grass removal works will be carried out on the central island of the Nicosia perimeter motorway, along its entire length. During the works, the traffic lane adjacent to the central island will be closed in sections, for a length of approximately 3 km. at a time and traffic will be diverted to the left lane.Limassol-Paphos Motorway During the period 27/08/2025 – 10/09/2025, excluding weekends, between the hours of 08:30 – 15:00, irrigation works will be carried out on the central island of the motorway, by the Department of Forestry, for a total length of approximately 17.5 km. During the works, the lane adjacent to the central island of the motorway will be closed in sections in both directions, for a length of 1.5km each time. Nicosia-Kokkinotrimithia Motorway On the section of the motorway between the Denia exit and the Akaki roundabout in both directions of the road, on Monday 01/09/2025 and Tuesday 02/09/2025, from 20:00 in the evening until 05:30 in the morning of the next day, road surface removal and resurfacing works will be carried out. For this purpose, traffic from Nicosia to Astromeritis will be diverted via the Kokkinotrimithia interchange to Grigori Afxentiou Avenue and then through Kokkinotrimithia to Astromeritis. Traffic from Astromeritis to Nicosia will also be diverted via the Akaki roundabout to Grigori Afxentiou Avenue and then through Kokkinotrimithia to the Kokkinotrimithia interchange. The motorway entrance/exit at Mammari Interchange will also be closed. Nicosia District In Nicosia, on Digeni Akrita Avenue, between its intersections with Nikodimou Mylona Street and Kallipoleos Avenue, from 30/06/2025 to 24/11/2025, repair, maintenance and reinforcement works of the existing culvert will be carried out. During the works, a section of one lane of Digeni Akrita Avenue towards Pallouriotissa/Kaimakli will be closed sequentially for approximately 50m and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane. In addition, both lanes in this direction will be closed during the days when concreting works are carried out and traffic will be diverted via alternative routes. Separate announcements will be issued for these cases to better inform the public. In Lakatamia and Strovolos, as part of the works being carried out on Ippokratous, Argyroupoleos, Tseriou, and Strovolos avenues, from Wednesday 07/05/2025 and for a period of approximately 5 months, the intersection of Georgiou Anagnostopoulou Street with Tseriou Avenue will be closed. During this period, traffic to and from Tseriou Avenue will be conducted via Georgiou Iona Street, where a photo-controlled intersection will operate to regulate traffic. In Lakatamia and Strovolos, also in the context of the works being carried out on Ippokratous, Argyroupoleos, and Tseriou avenues, from Tuesday 27/05/2025 and for a period of approximately 6 months, the light-controlled intersection of Tseriou avenue with Theofilou Georgiadis street is being abolished and part of Theofilou Georgiadis street will be temporarily closed to traffic, up to its intersection with Ergatikattas street. All movements from Theofilou Georgiadis street to and from Tseriou avenue will be made via the temporary light-controlled intersection with Vasilissis Amalias street. In Nicosia, on Digeni Akrita Avenue, from 06:00 on Monday 1 September 2025 until 06:00 on Friday 17 October 2025, repair, maintenance and reinforcement works will be carried out on the existing culvert under Digeni Akrita Avenue. During the works, the lanes of Digeni Akrita Avenue from Nicosia to Palouriotissa between its intersections with Nikodimou Mylona and Olympia Streets will be closed to traffic. The right-hand direction towards Nikodimou Mylona Street will remain open. Drivers from Nicosia to Palouriotissa are advised to use Kritis, Kypranoros, Androkleous streets and then Stasandrou/Pindarou streets and Stasinou Avenue for their journeys. Drivers from Nicosia to Kallipoleos Avenue are advised to use Nikodimou Mylona Street for their journeys. To return to Digeni Akrita, drivers are advised to use Nikodimou Mylona, Damaskinou and Olympia streets. Traffic from Palouriotissa to Makariou Avenue will not be affected by the works. In Nicosia and Aglantzia, as part of the project “Improvement of Famagusta Avenue in Nicosia”, works lasting 24 months are underway from 20 February 2025, which are expected to be completed by 22 February 2027. Specifically includes Famagusta Avenue from its junction with Kalavryton Street to the Sopaz roundabout, approximately 1.7 km long and a secondary road network of approximately 0.8 km long, consisting of a section of Kalavryton, Paphos, Madaris and Semelis streets. Within the framework of the “Improvement of Famagusta Avenue in Nicosia” Project, during the period 24/04/2025-12/12/2025, the following traffic regulations will be in place: Kalavryton Street with its junction with Famagusta will be closed. Drivers are asked to use Faliro Street for their transition to the Sopaz roundabout. Drivers are asked to use Terpsichoris Street for their transition to Larnaca Avenue.
Pafos Street will also be closed to traffic. Drivers using this road to travel to the area are asked to use Gogou Paraskevaidi Street, which runs parallel to Pafos Street and was specifically constructed for this purpose. Residents of the Pafos Street area who wish to travel to Larnaca Avenue are asked to use Kantaras Street, while those wishing to travel to the Sopaz roundabout are asked to use Gogou Paraskevaidi Street for this purpose.
Limassol District
On the Platres-Prodromos road (E804), on sections of the road between Agios Dimitrios and Paleomylos, during the period 07/07/2025 – 30/09/2025, between the hours of 07:00 – 15:00, works will be carried out to raise retaining walls. During the course of the works, one lane of traffic of approximately 100m in length will be closed at any time and traffic will be managed alternately with the “STOP & GO” system with appropriate signage.
On the Malia-Mandria and Prastiou-Avdimou roads, during the period 30/06/2025–30/09/2025, between the hours of 07:00-15:00, works will be carried out to construct retaining walls on sections of the roads. During the works, one lane of approximately 100m in length will be closed at any time and traffic will be managed alternately with the “STOP & GO” system with appropriate signage.
Larnaca District
On the Larnaca-Dhekelia coastal road, within the framework of the construction works of the Project “Improvement of the Larnaca-Dhekelia Coastal Road Phase C”, traffic, from the height of the LEBAY hotel to the Radisson Beach hotel, from April 24, 2025 and for six months, will be diverted via Galaxia Street in Oroklini, while part of it, near the BORONIA hotel, will be closed. In addition, the road connecting Oroklini with the Larnaca-Dhekelia coastal road, at the height of the Oroklini Fire Station and the HENIPA Hotel, will be closed to traffic in both directions from April 24, 2025 for two months. Traffic will be diverted via Bella-Pais, Olympos and Athinon streets to Oroklini. Drivers are urged to be careful.
