A lot of inconvenience and long waits for passengers, especially tourists arriving at Paphos Airport, lately. As professional bus drivers complain, the reason is the lack of staff from the airlines' service companies. The president of the tourist bus association, Charalambos Amyrotas, said that in some cases passengers took up to two hours to collect their luggage. Industry professionals argue that in addition to visitors who wait up to two hours to pick up their luggage, after long air travel, drivers also suffer the inconvenience, while the planning of their own companies is also overturned.
Recently, following complaints from their customers, Paphos hoteliers have also made representations on the issue, claiming better staffing of service companies. A representative of the managing company HERMES contacted by CyBC said that there is no technical issue and all belts at the airport are working normally. In relation to the delays that have been observed, some hours lately, these are due to understaffing of a ground handling company and the managing company takes measures on the basis of the relevant legislation to correct the situation.
