FULL DAY EXPLORATION OF THE AKAMAS PENINSULA - RESUME SEPT-NOV
Free Excursion to AKAMAS
The Pafos Regional Board of Tourism is reinstating, for the upcoming three-month period, the provision of free excursions to the Akamas communities in order to promote points of interest and increase visitation.
This initiative is part of the support measures for the Akamas communities announced by the President of the Republic of Cyprus and is financially supported by the Deputy Ministry of Tourism.
The excursion will take place every Saturday during September–November 2025.
What does it include?
The tour starts at 9:15 a.m. from the bus stops at the Kato Pafos Archaeological Park and is conducted by bus.
It follows the coastal area and through the Peyia forest, arriving at the first stop, the community of Pano
Arodes. Visit to the Akamas Geology and Palaeontology Information Centre. Visitors can explore exhibits highlighting the geological history and palaeontological findings of the Akamas peninsula. Quick stop at Arodes village square for a coffee or refreshment break. (Drinks are NOT included in the excursion).
Next stop: Ineia community and visit to the Turtle Museum. Visitors can discover the world of sea turtles and learn about their biology, behaviour, and conservation efforts. (Option for coffee or refreshments – not included in the excursion).
The tour then continues to Droushia village for a visit to the Akamas Rural Life and Traditions Information Centre. Participants will have the opportunity to explore the museum and watch locals showcase cultural traditions. Workshops and live demonstrations of local arts and crafts are offered.
At midday, the group moves on to the neighbouring village of Kathikas for a visit to the Akamas Regional Visitors’ Centre for Avifauna and Flora. The exhibits present the variety of birds and plants found on the Akamas peninsula through interactive applications, photographs, and videos.
Afterwards, there will be free time for lunch at a local restaurant, coffee, or a stroll. (Lunch is NOT included n the excursion).
15:30 Departure for Pafos with expected arrival at 16:15 at the parking area of the Kato Pafos Archaeological Park. The excursion ends there.
