The suspects were referred to trial in the criminal court for kidnapping. Regarding the arrest of three persons aged 58, 79 and 44, in relation to an investigated case concerning the offences of conspiracy to commit a felony, kidnapping of a person for the purpose of concealing and unjust restriction, trafficking in a minor, etc., which were reported on 09/08/2025 by a 48-year-old woman from Romania, all those arrested appeared before a court today, where the above case was immediately registered, which was referred to the Permanent Assize Court of Paphos, with a first trial, on 13/10/2025.
In relation to the 58-year-old, the court ordered him to remain on trial until then, while on the 79-year-old and the 44-year-old, it imposed the following conditions:
Their data should be placed in the STOP LIST
Hand over their travel documents
Not to pass through barricades
Present themselves at a Police Station and sign
Sign a personal guarantee of €100,000
And in addition, for the 44-year-old, to sign a bail of €100,000, with a creditworthy guarantor, a condition that she has not met so far and she was detained again.
The 79-year-old, after satisfying the conditions set by the court, was released.

The Police recommends special attention to the public, following complaints that have been made about suspicious persons, who communicate with citizens in the Greek language and pretend to be the officers of the Social Services.
The perpetrators ask unsuspecting citizens for their bank account numbers, with the aim of allegedly returning money, resulting in them gaining access and consequently stealing money from their accounts.
The public is invited to be particularly careful and take the following protective measures:
Do NOT respond to the calls and instructions received from the perpetrators
Not disclose to other persons sensitive information such as passwords, usage codes and PIN codes, identity details and bank card and account details
Citizens can verify the identity of the people who call them by communicating through the official channels of the Services that those individuals claim to represent

A serious traffic accident occurred this morning, at around 02:45. A 38-year-old driver of Syrian origin was driving his car from Kissonerga to Peyia, when under circumstances that are being investigated, he ran over a 57-year-old pedestrian of British origin, who is in Cyprus on vacation. The pedestrian was heading from the Potima area to Kissonerga. The injured man was taken by ambulance to the Accident and Emergency Department of Paphos General Hospital. According to the attending doctors, he has a lumbar fracture, an open wound to the right thigh and a contusion to the head. His health condition is stable and out of danger, however he remains hospitalized and monitored. The driver's breathalyzer test showed zero alcohol, but he tested positive for drugs. The accident is being investigated by the Pegeia Police Station.

A motorcycle arson occurred in the early hours of Tuesday (19/08), in Strovolos.
According to the Police, around 1.15 a.m. today, information was received about a fire in a motorcycle that was in a field.
The fire was extinguished by members of the Fire Service, while according to preliminary examinations, the fire seems to have been maliciously started.
Further examinations will be conducted this morning by members of the Nicosia TAE.

A 19-year-old national guard from the Larnaca district is fighting to stay alive, who was swept away by a car driven by a friend last night in the large parking lot of the Mackenzie coast.
The conditions of the traffic accident are shocking. Three 19-year-old friends, all National Guardsmen, were in the parking lot. According to the Police, around 11:30 last night, while a 19-year-old was driving his car in the area, having another 19-year-old as a passenger, he dragged and seriously injured the third 19-year-old, who at the time was moving on foot. According to information from philenews, the driver of the vehicle was heading at low speed, as the preliminary tests showed, towards his friend in order for him to get into the car as well. However, under circumstances that are being investigated, he hit him with the right side of the car resulting in him falling to the ground and hitting his head.
The 19-year-old injured man was transferred to Larnaca General Hospital and then, due to the seriousness of his condition, he was intubated and transferred to the Nicosia General Hospital where he is hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit. His health condition is characterized as extremely critical by the attending physicians. The 19-year-old driver of the car was tested for breathalyzer and a drug test with a negative reading. The Larnaca Traffic Police proceeded to seize the vehicle, which shows no obvious signs of a hit, while they interrogated the 19-year-old driver. It is noted that a request for an arrest warrant was not approved, which was reportedly issued for procedural reasons.

On Monday (18/08), an officer at the Social Services office of Germasogeia was verbally and physically attacked.
According to what the Pancyprian Equality Guild denounces, a citizen verbally and physically attacked the staff, throwing objects in order to break the protective glass of the reception. The private guard who was at the scene did not take any action, while the Police arrived with a delay of about 30 minutes.

A case of the unnatural death of a 54-year-old man in Nicosia is being investigated by the Police.
The Cyprus Police were notified shortly before 10:00 a.m. that a specific person had serious burn injuries and was in a field on Elaionon Avenue in Strovolos.
