 Filenews 16 August 2025

Members of the Traffic Police Headquarters, during checks carried out last night on the Larnaca – Limassol and Kofinou – Larnaca motorways, made two complaints for exceeding the speed limit as well as other related traffic offences.

Around 8:00 p.m., a vehicle moving at a speed of 184 kilometers per hour was stopped, instead of the permissible limit of 100.

The check found that the 31-year-old driver did not have a driver's license and was driving without a safety certificate.

He was arrested for flagrant offences, charged in writing and released to be summoned later before a Court.

A little later (21:30), a second vehicle moving at a speed of 135 kilometers per hour was stopped.

The 50-year-old driver was found to be driving with a deprived driver's license and without a safety certificate, while he underwent a preliminary drug test with a positive indication.

He was arrested for flagrant offenses and then re-arrested due to pending fine warrants against him.

The examinations continue from the Aradippou and Kofinou Police Stations.

The 22-year-old then met with three people outside the Accommodation Center and then boarded their vehicle.

After thirty minutes, friends of the 22-year-old contacted the Police and complained that they were trying to contact the 22-year-old, but his mobile phone was deactivated and he was probably the victim of kidnapping.

Around 10:30 that same evening, the 22-year-old contacted his friends, telling them that he had previously been kidnapped and that his kidnappers had abandoned him despite the Kofinou air bridge.
