AIRBAGS - 40% OF THE RECALL LIST IS PENDING TO BE REPLACED

 Filenews 1 August 2025

The problematic airbags have not yet been replaced in about 40% of the vehicles on the recall list of the Department of Road Transport.

According to data from the Department of Road Transport, out of the 81,000 vehicles that were on the initial recall lists, by July 30 there were still 35,000 vehicles pending in which the replacement has not yet been implemented.

It is noted that the number is indicative, as the repairs that have been made in the last few days have not yet been registered by the delegations in the TOM system.

In addition, the 35,000 include about 3,000 vehicles that have been deleted or destroyed, which, therefore, will not implement the recall.

It is recalled that the recall deadline for defective airbags is October 3. After this date, the certificate of suitability of these vehicles will not be valid.

Meanwhile, in recent days, the TOM has informed the owners of another 1,314 BMW brand vehicles to immediately stop their vehicles. As CNA was informed, the information about them came from the manufacturer within the week. The new recalls come with the manufacturer's instructions for immediate immobilization – do not drive, due to high risk. For this reason, the restriction of the immediate immobilization and suspension of their certificate of suitability is introduced, in order to process their revocation.

TOM notes that this company has shown a willingness to process the above recalls as soon as possible. Therefore, it sends a message to those affected to respond immediately and get in touch with the delegation to arrange their appointment.

As for the remaining recalls that have not yet been implemented, the TOM reports that according to the delegations, a large number of drivers have not responded to date to arrange an appointment. Noting that, according to the information it has, there are several appointments available in several of the companies, the TOM again calls on those affected to settle the issue as soon as possible.
