In order to inform him about the developments regarding the construction of the new high school and primary school in the center of Paphos and the process that will be initiated for the expansion of the Technical School in Empa and Polis Chrysochous, the Paphos MP of AKEL, Valentinos Fakontis, had a meeting with the Minister of Education, Athena Michaelidou.
Mr. Fakontis pointed out to the competent minister that due to the increased school needs and the large increase in the student population of Paphos, these projects are of immediate priority and reiterated the demand of our province for the creation of a new Technical School and other new school units.
In his statements, the AKEL MP stressed that the Minister of Education informed him that the Ministry in its plans for the Paphos district has included the creation of another new high school in the area of Anavargos where the Silos are located and the additional creation of another Regional Primary School in the area of Empa.
In order to reach the desired goal of implementation, we have to spend a lot of time and we expressed our concerns about the immediate school needs that Paphos has to face, said Valentinos Fakontis. In addition, we were informed about the current developments regarding the building upgrades of Paphos schools, and we concluded that the upgrades must continue so that our schools are improved and remain safe by meeting the increased needs of recent years, he added.
We also reaffirmed AKEL's political will to contribute to the promotion of upgrading projects and the creation of school units in the city and Paphos District, he concluded.
The meeting was also attended by the Director of Technical Services, Andreas Maragos and the Head of Technical Services in the Paphos district, Maria Nicolaides.
