A fire broke out at noon on Wednesday (23/07) in wild vegetation, trees, reeds and immobilized vehicles in the bed of the Pedieos River, between the communities of Anageia and Defteras District of Nicosia.
According to the Fire Brigade Spokesperson, Andreas Kettis, the fire developed near houses that were protected by the firefighting forces.
However, premises were affected, the damages of which will be assessed after the fire was completely extinguished. The burnt area is assessed at three hectares.
Eight vehicles from the Fire Service and six vehicles of the Forestry Department are attempting to extinguish the fire completely.
The volunteer team SupportCy was also informed. Two firefighting aircraft are also operating. The causes of the fire will be investigated at a later stage
