CYPRUS MIGRATION DEPARTMENT - UK EXPATS & NON-EU RESIDENTS - allow at least 7 months for the process
UPDATE - for anyone who has mobility issues and/or issues with technology
Anyone who has mobility issues or issues with technology and needs some assistance, can they please email [or ask someone to email for you if needed] Wendy at info@crpg.com.cy, with details of your name, phone no and, if you have one, email address. Wendy will then organise someone to assist you through the process, including making your appointment at Immigration and taking you there.
You will be aware that if you are a holder of a yellow slip confirming your residency, this will not be valid after mid 2026. It is recommended that you upgrade your residency to biometric residency as soon as you are able as this will make travel within the European Union simpler. For example once the European Entry/Exit system [EES] comes into effect [no launch date has yet been advised], if you do not have biometric residency, you will need to have your fingerprints taken on entry to a European country [not Cyprus or Malta at this stage]. As a third country national, if you have the biometric residency, your residency card plus your passport will be sufficient for entry purposes and you will not need to have your fingerprints taken at the border.
In addition, the biometric residency will be essential to access Cypriot Government services going forward as your paper yellow slip will not be recognised.
Currently, there is a 3-4 month waiting list for appointments at the Immigration Department in Paphos, plus a 3-4 month waiting period for your biometric card, so please bear this in mind as the deadline for conversion looms and take into account your travel plans into Europe.
To arrange an appointment at Paphos Immigration you will need to email - pafosetiseis@police.gov.cy.
Attached to this email you will need to include the following information - ALL INFORMATION IN CAPITAL LETTERS, as an attachment. You should make ONE REQUEST per family

You will receive an email within approximately 5 working days. If you need to cancel that appointment, please contact the department by email, or, if at short notice, please phone 26 806222 or 26 806215
You will then need for your appointment:

3 A fee of €30pp for the conversion
As biometric data is collected, please note that you cannot apply for the biometric residency online.
After your appointment and collection of your biometric data, the card will take approximately 4 months to issue. Please note that you will not receive any notification that the card has been issued and is ready for collection and will need to visit the Immigration Department [with your passport] to collect it.
Please also bear in mind that once you have the biometric residency, it will be valid for a period of 10 years and will then require renewal.
