Immediately after August 15, and specifically on August 18, the large desalination plant in the coastal area of Kouklia-Mandria, which had been destroyed by fire, is expected to reopen.
The private company is preparing feverishly and has already completed the infrastructure, waiting for the installation and operation of the equipment. Works are also very advanced in the area of Potima, where this unit is expected to start operating before the end of the month.
The pipeline that will transport the desalinated water has already been installed and within the next week the transfer of both mobile units that will be installed in the area is expected. For the unit in Ha-Potami, the water department has also proceeded with their plans, but there may be a change, since the community council of Kouklia is reportedly willing to proceed with an agreement with a private company for the operation with a long-term contract for a desalination plant, mainly covering the needs of its tourist area. If this is achieved, the unit intended for this area may be installed elsewhere in the province.
