MAJOR ROAD WORKS
Larnaca-Famagusta Motorway During the period 16/06/2025 – 29/08/2025, excluding Fridays, Weekends and Public Holidays, between the hours of 08:30 – 14:30, pruning and watering works will be carried out on the slopes, including the roundabout triangles, of the Larnaca Airport – Paralimni, Larnaca – Kofinou and Larnaca – Nicosia motorways, in the Larnaca District and from both directions, by the Forestry Department. During the works, part of the shoulder of the motorway will be closed, in sections of 300 meters at a time. Traffic will not be affected.
On the section of the motorway between the Rizoelia roundabout and Xylotympos, during the period 18/06/2025-31/07/2025, except Fridays and weekends, between the hours of 08:30-14:30, pruning work will be carried out on the central island by the Department of Forestry. During the work, the tangential traffic lane of the central island will be closed in sections in both directions for a length of 500m. each time and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane. On the motorway, between Larnaca Airport and Rizoelia roundabout, during the period 30/06/2025-31/08/2025, between the hours of 08:30 – 16:30, except Fridays, weekends and holidays, works will be carried out by the Department of Forestry on the central islands of the motorways. During the works, the lane adjacent to the central island of the motorway will be closed in sections in both directions, at a length of 1.5 km each time. Larnaca-Kofinou Motorway During the period 16/06/2025 – 29/08/2025, excluding Fridays, Weekends and Public Holidays, between the hours of 08:30 – 14:30, pruning and watering works will be carried out on the slopes, including the roundabout triangles, of the Larnaca Airport – Paralimni, Larnaca – Kofinou and Larnaca – Nicosia motorways, in the Larnaca District and from both directions, by the Forestry Department. On the motorway, between the Kalo Chorio roundabout and Kofinos, during the period 14/07/2025-12/08/2025, between the hours of 08:30 – 16:30, except Fridays, weekends and holidays, work will be carried out on the central islands of the motorways by the Department of Forestry. During the work, the lane adjacent to the central island of the motorway will be closed in sections in both directions, at a length of 1.5 km each time. Larnaca-Nicosia Motorway During the period 16/06/2025 – 29/08/2025, excluding Fridays, Weekends and Public Holidays, between the hours of 08:30 – 14:30, pruning and watering works will be carried out on the slopes, including the roundabout triangles, of the Larnaca Airport – Paralimni, Larnaca – Kofinou and Larnaca – Nicosia motorways, in the Larnaca District and from both directions, by the Forestry Department. On the highway, between the Rizoelia roundabout and Nisos, during the period 30/06/2025-31/08/2025, between the hours of 08:30 – 16:30, except Fridays, weekends and holidays, work will be carried out on the central islands of the highways by the Department of Forestry. During the work, the lane adjacent to the central island of the highway will be closed in sections in both directions, at a length of 1.5 km each time. From the junction of the Nicosia-Larnaca motorway with the Nicosia-Limassol motorway, up to the Athienou interchange, from Monday 07/07/2025 until Thursday 24/07/2025, except Fridays and weekends, between the hours of 09:00 – 14:00, maintenance work on the greenery of the central islands will be carried out by the Department of Forestry. During the work, the traffic lane adjacent to the central island will be closed in sections, for a length of approximately 1500m. each time and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent traffic lane. In the Nicosia-Larnaca direction, from the height of Agia Varvara to the height of the Lympia exit, on Thursday 10/07/2025, from 22:00 at night until 05:00 the next morning, permanent horizontal marking works will be carried out on the motorway. This specific work on the motorway will be carried out in sections, closing one lane at a time and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane of the road. Traffic in the Larnaca-Nicosia direction will not be affected. Limassol-Nicosia Motorway On the section of the motorway between the GSP Roundabout and the Strovolos Industrial Interchange, on Thursday 10/7/2025, from 22:00 at night until 05:00 in the morning of the next day, permanent horizontal marking works will be carried out. The specific work on the highway will be carried out in sections with one lane closed at a time and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane of the road. On the Limassol-Nicosia motorway in the direction of Nicosia, asphalt paving works will be carried out as follows: - on Monday 14/07/2025 and Tuesday 15/07/2025, between the hours of 20:00 in the evening and 05:30 in the morning of the next day, asphalt paving works will be carried out on the motorway in the direction from Limassol to Nicosia, before and after the Kotsiatis exit - on Monday 14/07/2025, asphalt paving works will be carried out on the two traffic lanes of the motorway from the junction of the Limassol-Nicosia and Larnaca-Nicosia motorways to the Kotsiatis exit and traffic will be diverted to the third traffic lane of the motorway - on Tuesday 15/07/2025, asphalt paving works will be carried out on the two traffic lanes of motorway from the Kotsiatis exit to the Halepiana exit and traffic will be diverted to the third lane of the motorway.
Limassol Bypass
On the Limassol Bypass and the Paphos-Limassol motorway, the Department of Forestry will carry out maintenance work on the trees and shrubs of the central island, during which the right lane in both directions will be closed for approximately 1500 m and traffic will be diverted to the slow lane. The works will be carried out as follows:
(a) On the section from Erimis junction to Petra tou Romiou during the period 26/05/2025 – 29/07/2025 daily except weekends and public holidays between the hours of 07:00 – 15:00
Limassol-Paphos Motorway
On the section of the motorway from the exit to Petra tou Romiou in the direction of Paphos to the exit for Kouklia, from Monday 07/07/2025 until Thursday 10/07/2025, between the hours of 08:00 – 15:00, telecommunications cable pulling works will be carried out. During the works, the right lane will be closed in sections over a length of 500m. approximately and traffic will be diverted to the left lane.
On the section of the motorway from the roundabout at the entrance to Paphos to Petra tou Romiou, in the direction of Limassol, from Monday 07/07/2025 until Friday 18/07/2025, excluding weekends, between the hours of 08:30 – 15:00, plant irrigation works will be carried out on the central island. During the works, the right lane will be partially closed and traffic will be diverted to the left lane of the motorway.
Nicosia-Kokkinotrimithia Motorway
On the section of the motorway after the Anthoupolis Roundabout, in the direction towards Akaki, on Thursday 10/07/2025, from 20:00 in the evening until 05:30 in the morning of the next day, road surface removal and resurfacing works will be carried out. Traffic on the motorway in the direction towards Akaki will be diverted to the opposite traffic stream, which will operate in two-way traffic. There will be no traffic disruption at the Anthoupolis Roundabout on this day.
In the direction towards Akaki, from the Anthoupolis roundabout to the Kokkinotrimithia roundabout, from Monday 14/07/2025 until Thursday 17/07/2025, from 20:00 in the evening until 05:30 in the morning of the next day, road removal and resurfacing works will be carried out on the motorway. Traffic on the Nicosia-Akaki motorway in the direction towards Akaki will be diverted to the opposite traffic flow, which will operate in two-way traffic.
Nicosia District
In Nicosia, on Digeni Akrita Avenue, between its intersections with Nikodimou Mylona Street and Kallipoleos Avenue, from 30/06/2025 to 24/11/2025, repair, maintenance and reinforcement works of the existing culvert will be carried out. During the works, a section of one lane of Digeni Akrita Avenue towards Pallouriotissa/Kaimakli will be closed sequentially for approximately 50m and traffic will be diverted to the adjacent lane. In addition, both lanes in this direction will be closed during the days when concreting works are carried out and traffic will be diverted via alternative routes. Separate announcements will be issued for these cases to better inform the public.
In Agios Dometios, on Dimokratias Avenue and Agios Pavlos Avenue, from the intersection with Thali Street to the intersection with Andrea Kariou Street, from Tuesday 08/07/2025 until Thursday 10/07/2025, between the hours of 21:00 at night and 05:00 in the morning of the next day, horizontal road marking works will be carried out. During the works, one lane of traffic will be closed locally at a distance of approximately 100 meters and traffic will be diverted to another traffic lane.
In Lakatamia and Strovolos, within the framework of the works being carried out on Ippokratous, Argyroupoleos, Tseriou, and Strovolos avenues, from Wednesday 07/05/2025 and for a period of approximately 5 months, the intersection of Georgiou Anagnostopoulou Street with Tseriou Avenue will be closed. During this period, traffic to and from Tseriou Avenue will be conducted via Georgiou Iona Street, where a photo-controlled intersection will operate to regulate traffic.
In Lakatamia and Strovolos, also in the context of the works being carried out on Ippokratous, Argyroupoleos, and Tseriou avenues, from Tuesday 27/05/2025 and for a period of approximately 6 months, the light-controlled intersection of Tseriou avenue with Theofilou Georgiadis street is being abolished and part of Theofilou Georgiadis street will be temporarily closed to traffic, up to its intersection with Ergatikattas street. All movements from Theofilou Georgiadis street to and from Tseriou avenue will be made via the temporary light-controlled intersection with Vasilissis Amalias street.
In Nicosia and Aglantzia, as part of the project “Improvement of Famagusta Avenue in Nicosia”, works lasting 24 months are underway from 20 February 2025, which are expected to be completed by 22 February 2027. Specifically, they include Famagusta Avenue from its junction with Kalavryton Street to the Sopaz roundabout, approximately 1.7 km long and a secondary road network approximately 0.8 km long, consisting of a section of Kalavryton, Paphos, Madaris and Semelis streets.
As part of the “Improvement of Famagusta Avenue in Nicosia” Project, the following traffic regulations will be in place from 24/04/2025 to 12/12/2025:
Kalavryton Street at its junction with Famagusta will be closed. Drivers are asked to use Faliro Street to get to Sopaz roundabout. Drivers are asked to use Terpsichoris Street to get to Larnaca Avenue.
Pafos Street will also be closed to traffic. Drivers using this road to get to the area are asked to use Gogou Paraskevaidi Street, which is parallel to Pafos Street and was specifically constructed for this purpose. Residents of the Pafos Road area who wish to travel towards Larnaca Avenue are requested to use Kantaras Street, while those who wish to travel towards the Sopaz roundabout are requested to use Gogou Paraskevaidi Street for this purpose.
Limassol District
On the Agia Fyla-Agros road, near the village of Gerasa, during the period 16/06/2025 – 31/07/2025, daily except Saturdays and Sundays, from 7:00 to 15:00, construction work on retaining walls will be carried out. During the work, one lane of traffic, approximately 100 m long, will be closed at any time and traffic will be managed alternately with the “STOP & GO” system with appropriate signage.
On the Platres-Prodromos road (E804), on sections of the road between Agios Dimitrios and Paleomylos, during the period 07/07/2025 – 30/09/2025, between the hours of 07:00 – 15:00, works will be carried out to raise retaining walls. During the course of the works, one lane of traffic of approximately 100m in length will be closed at any time and traffic will be managed alternately with the “STOP & GO” system with appropriate signalling.
In Kalo Chorio, on sections of the road through Kalo Chorio, during the period 16/06/2025 – 31/07/2025, daily except Saturdays and Sundays, from 7:00 to 15:00, construction works of retaining walls will be carried out. During the works, one lane of approximately 100 m. in length will be closed at any time and traffic will be managed alternately with the “STOP & GO” system with appropriate signage.
On the Malia-Mandria and Prastiou-Avdimou roads, during the period 30/06/2025–30/09/2025, between the hours of 07:00-15:00, construction work on retaining walls will be carried out on sections of the roads. During the works, one lane of approximately 100 m. in length will be closed at any time and traffic will be managed alternately with the “STOP & GO” system with appropriate signage.
Larnaca District
On the Larnaca-Dhekelia coastal road, within the framework of the construction works of the Project "Improvement of the Larnaca-Dhekelia Coastal Road Phase C", traffic, from the height of the LEBAY Hotel to the Radisson Beach Hotel, from April 24, 2025 and for six months, will be diverted via Galaxia Street in Oroklini, while part of it, near the BORONIA Hotel, will be closed. In addition, the road connecting Oroklini with the Larnaca-Dhekelia coastal road, at the height of the Oroklini Fire Station and the HENIPA Hotel, from April 24, 2025 and for two months, will be closed to traffic in both directions. Traffic will be diverted via Bella-Pais, Olympos and Athinon streets to Oroklini. Drivers are urged to be careful.
