Explanations regarding the extrajudicial fines for the use of hosepipes were given to Mesimeri y Kati by Gianna Oikonomidou, the Senior Executive Engineer of the Water Development Department.
Initially, he explained that in the event of a court conviction, the penalties are now €1000 and 3 months in prison or both, depending on the sentence.
The fine is €75 for the first violation and €150 in case of a repeat violation within 18 months.
How will fines be imposed?
The competent authority is the EOA and other water supply authorities. The officials will make rounds and with a visible sign an extrajudicial fine will be served. If the person refuses to receive the extrajudicial fine, then the violation can be resolved in court.

What about washing vehicles? The officer said that someone can wash their vehicle with a bucket or at car washes with modern water recycling systems.
