Yesterday, shortly after 3 p.m., the Police were informed by telephone by a citizen, that shortly before the village of Choletria, in the ditch on the left side of the road, Ivan Gourbetoglou, 16 years old, a Turkish Cypriot from Choletria, was found dead.

The scene was initially visited by members of the Kelokedaron station and then by the manager and members of the Paphos traffic police, as well as the B. ADE of Operations.

The body was picked up by an ambulance and transferred to the Paphos General Hospital.

At the scene, near the point where the 16-year-old was found, a motorcycle of unknown data was found, as well as a motorcycle helmet.

According to testimony, the deceased left his home around 8 p.m. driving the motorcycle in question to go to Paphos. Since he had not returned until the morning, his relatives and friends rushed to look for him without informing the Police, and finally located him around 1500 at the mentioned point.

From the examinations so far, what emerges is that the death of the 16-year-old was caused by a road traffic collision.

The presence of the Police in Paphos was also increased last night in the context of the daily policing operations, which are carried out in all districts.

In Paphos, in the context of the patrols carried out during the night, the members of the Police proceeded to complaints from the managers of three nightclubs, which were operating without relevant licenses. At the same time, members of the Paphos Traffic Police proceeded to a number of complaints for various traffic offenses, seven of which related to driving under the influence of alcohol.

The coordinated operations of the Police continue daily in all cities, with particular emphasis on the beaches and tourist areas. The aim is to tackle crime and increase the sense of security of citizens.

Yesterday afternoon, information was received to the Police, about a clash between two people, aged 30 and 53, in a supermarket parking lot in Pissouri. From subsequent examinations, it was found that the 30-year-old had injuries to various parts of his body from an item and a cutting instrument. 

Subsequently, he was transported by ambulance to a hospital in Limassol where it was found that in addition to the injuries he sustained in various parts of his body, he also had severe bleeding in the neck area, resulting in him being intubated and rushed to the operating room with his current state of health being considered serious but stable. 

On the same day, a court arrest warrant was obtained against the 53-year-old man who allegedly injured the 30-year-old, for the offenses of attempted murder and acts intended to cause serious bodily harm. He was arrested today 13/07/2025 and is expected to be brought before the Limassol District Court within the day, for the purposes of issuing a decree on his personal detention.

Within the framework of the activities of the Anti-Drug Service, which are carried out in order to detect illegal drugs, a coordinated operation was carried out yesterday 12/07/2025 in the city and district of Limassol.

During the operation, a total of 19 people's houses, vehicles, cafes and kiosks, owned by 19 people, were searched with court warrants, during which various quantities of drugs, sums of money and other items were found.

Specifically, during the operation, various quantities of narcotics such as cocaine and cannabis as well as two precision scales were found in the possession of six persons, while in the possession of three persons, the total amount of money of €41,670 was found.

As a result of the above found narcotic substances and other items, five persons were arrested, four of whom, after being interrogated, were charged in writing to be summoned later before a court, while a 30-year-old person who continues to be detained, is expected to appear today before the Limassol District Court, for the purposes of issuing a detention order.

The Anti-Narcotics Service (Limassol Team) continues the examinations.

The Police are investigating a case of injury to a 37-year-old man, with a sharp object, in Limassol. The 37-year-old informed the Police about it shortly before midnight yesterday.

The 37-year-old was allegedly attacked, in an open space in Limassol, by three unknown persons, one of whom injured him with a sharp object, in the back. From the first examinations, it appears that a 37-year-old man and one of the alleged perpetrators had previously had a confrontation on a city road, while driving their cars.

The 37-year-old was transferred to the Limassol General Hospital, where he was found to have a crushing wound from a sharp object, 3 centimeters long, on his back as well as abrasions on various parts of his body. He was detained for hospitalization for preventive reasons.

The examinations are ongoing.

The Police proceeded in the morning to the arrest of a 17-year-old, as part of an investigation into a robbery case committed on the beach of Finikoudes a few days ago, with two 52-year-old victims being two 52-year-olds.

The 17-year-old is expected to appear in court tomorrow for the issuance of a detention order.

According to the complaint of the two men, aged 52, around 2 a.m., while they were in the area, they were approached by a number of young people.

The perpetrators managed to forcibly extract from one of them his personal bag, which contained various personal documents.

The complainant suffered an eye injury during the incident and went to the Larnaca General Hospital for examinations.

Information to the Police, about the presence of persons in an abandoned building in Nicosia, arrived around 10:30 on Saturday evening.

Members of the Police immediately went to the scene, where they located a 33-year-old person, in whose possession burglary tools were found, while at the same time, he verbally admitted the theft of a number of metals from the building in question, which happened last month.

During the investigation of the incident, testimony was obtained for a second person aged 42. Both were arrested on warrants the same evening for the offences of conspiracy to commit a felony, malicious damage, theft and possession of burglary tools and were brought today before the Nicosia District Court, which ordered their further detention for a period of five days.

The Nicosia Crime Detection Department continues the examinations.

The Police in Paphos were put on alert this morning after the murder of an elderly man. According to the first information, an 80-year-old Greek Cypriot shot and fatally wounded a fellow villager, for reasons that still remain unclear.

The victim is 73-year-old Aristides Siamptanis. According to information from Filenews, the two elderly men seem to have had personal, family differences.

The murdered man was found around 10:00 in the morning in a ditch on a road leading to Paphos Airport and has injuries possibly from a firearm. Forensic Pathologist Angeliki Papetta is expected to come to the scene for an autopsy.

The scene has been cordoned off and the Police are conducting intensive investigations into the new crime, which is causing shock to the local community, since it is the link in a chain of criminal actions in recent months in the province.
