AT THE END OF THE MONTH, ACCESS TO PETRA TOU ROMIOU IS READY

Filenews 6 July 25 - by Dora Christodoulou

At the end of July, it is expected that the project that has been carried out in its entirety in recent years near Petra tou Romiou, which concerns works for the stabilization of the old Limassol-Paphos road, at the exit to this important attraction of Cyprus, will be delivered.

The Minister of Transport, Communications and Works, Alexis Vafeadis, who had visited the construction site on June 20, expressed his satisfaction with the immediate action of the Department of Public Works in cooperation with the Department of Geological Survey to solve the problem.

This project is being delivered within the time frames and within the budget, which is an excellent performance on the part of Public Works, he stressed. We will now be able to move safely in this area, said Mr. Vafeadis, which is used a lot by tourists and contributes to highlighting Cyprus through the Petra tou Romiou. The viewpoints of the area, he pointed out, are the places from which most of the photos for social media come out and contribute to the further international publicity of our emblematic tourism product.

Mr. Vafeadis said that the problem has been identified, measures have been taken and the project will now be delivered corrected. Asked if other points with similar problems have been identified, he replied in the negative, stressing that the Department of Public Works together with the Department of Geological Survey are constantly monitoring the situation throughout the road network in order to be able to take corrective measures.

The cost of the project amounts to approximately €3.5 million and the area of the road where corrective measures were required was 800 meters.
