A FINE OF €3,000 WAS IMPOSED ON A PERSONAL DOCTOR WHO PRACTICED MEDICINE OVER THE PHONE - HE WAS REPORTED BY HIS PATIENTS

 Filenews 16 July 2025

A fine of €3,000 was imposed by the Health Insurance Organization on a personal doctor of the GHS, who, according to complaints of its beneficiaries, practiced medicine by telephone, while they themselves, most of the time, communicated with him only through his private secretary.

At the same time, the HIO found again, following complaints from beneficiaries, that this personal doctor was monitoring the movements of his former patients through their account in the GHS software without their consent.

According to today's announcement posted on the GHS website, two fines of €1500 each were imposed on this particular personal doctor.

The case of the personal doctor is rather a message in every direction from the HIO side, since the reasons why the fine was imposed on him are directly related to the service of patients/beneficiaries of the GHS but also to the quality that the System provides to citizens.

At the same time, it highlights the role of the citizens themselves who, in the context of the obligation to protect the System, are often called upon by the Organization to proceed with complaints/complaints in cases where the services they receive do not satisfy them.
