YELLOW WEATHER WARNING

The Department of Meteorology has issued a yellow warning for extremely high temperatures in inland areas, with maximum temperatures expected to reach 40 degrees Celsius.

The warning is in effect today, 25 June, from 1pm to 4pm.

A seasonal low pressure system is affecting the region, according to the detailed forecast.

Weather will be mainly clear with winds initially variable and light at 3 Beaufort, gradually becoming mainly southwesterly to northwesterly, light to moderate at 3-4 Beaufort. Winds may strengthen to 4-5 Beaufort locally along southern coasts during the afternoon.

Sea conditions will be calm to slightly rough. Temperatures will rise to around 40 degrees inland, 32 degrees on western coasts, around 35 degrees on remaining coasts and 29 degrees in higher mountainous areas.

Weather will be clear with temperatures showing no significant change, remaining above average climatological values.
