THE MUSIC OF MIMIS PLESSAS

Mimis Plessas is one of the greatest Greek composers with a deep knowledge of the history of music, with an important and multi-layered work that has been awarded dozens of times. The Paphos Music Club in collaboration with the Petrideion Foundation will present a tribute concert to Mimis Plessas at the summer venue on Sunday, July 6 at 20:30 with songs that are in our lived memory, loved by all generations and have accompanied special moments of our lives.
In her statements, the president of the Paphos Music Club, Theofano Charalambidou, said that the decision to hold the Tribute to Mimis Plessa Concert was taken by the Paphos Music Club, immediately after the composer's death on October 5, 2024 and was set for July 6, 2025. In the context of the cultural work that the Petrideion Foundation has been carrying out in our city in recent years, but also for the fact of the excellent relations they have with its Board of Directors, said Mrs. Charalambidou, they decided to organize their Concert together this year.
The choir and orchestra of the Paphos Music Club under the direction of conductor Sotiris Karagiorgis will perform great hits by Mimis Plessas.
Together with the performers Stelios Cacoyannis, Theofano Charalambidou, Adonis Michaelides, Varvara Constantinou, Kyriakos Drousiotis, Antigoni Kyriakou and Fotiana Antoniadi Konstantinidis.
The orchestra of the Paphos Music Club consists of the following musicians: Giorgos Eftychiou on Guitar, Chrysostomos Economou on Piano, Giorgos Dimitriadis on Bouzouki, Alexandros Karagiorgis on Bass, Stavros Savva on Accordion, Maria Avraam on Flute and Raphael Minas on Drums. The orchestrations were performed by Giorgos Eftychiou. The concert continued with a short audiovisual tribute to the composer. The main sponsor of the concert is the Cultural Services of the Deputy Ministry of Culture of Cyprus.
Theofano Charalambidou is the Organizer and Program Manager.
On his part, the president of the Petrideion Foundation, Michalis Maratheftis, said that the Petrideion Foundation always stands by the cultural dramas of the place. Within this framework, the collaboration with the Paphos Music Club will continue this year with the tribute to memory of Mimis Plessas.
