Technopolis 20 welcomes The Bean Trio for their debut performance on its stage, on July 17th, 2025, at 8pm, in the beautiful garden. The trio combines the rich tradition of jazz with a fresh and modern approach, offering audiences a vibrant and engaging musical experience. Formed in 2023, the group features Alexandros Adam on guitar, Spyros Socratous (Stilobate) on double bass, and Nikolas Tsangaris on drums.
This summer, The Bean Trio joins forces with special guest Francisco Nascimento, a talented Portuguese saxophonist with a strong background in bebop and the jazz tradition, who has already performed across Europe, Africa, and the Americas, collaborating with some of today’s leading jazz musicians. The group will present a repertoire that includes well-known jazz standards as well as original arrangements, featuring pieces such as Night and Day, Bolivia, St. Thomas, and more. The band is looking forward to sharing an enjoyable evening of jazz under the summer sky at Technopolis 20.
A few words about the musicians
Francisco Nascimento is a Portuguese jazz saxophonist born in Aveiro in 2001. His musical journey began at the age of six at the Orfeão de Leiria Conservatory of Music, where he studied classical saxophone. In 2020, Francisco completed the Jazz Instrumentalist Course at the Jobra Conservatory of Music and began teaching jazz saxophone at the Orfeão de Leiria Conservatory of Music, inspiring musicians with his passion for jazz. In 2024, Francisco graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Jazz Saxophone from the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. During his studies, he worked with world-class mentors such as Jasper Blom, Simon Rigter, Ben van Gelder, Benjamin Herman and Marc Scholten. He also participated in masterclasses and private lessons with renowned jazz artists, including Dick Oatts, The Village Vanguard Big Band, Immanuel Wilkins, Walter Smith III, Brad Mehldau and many others. His time in Amsterdam included significant collaborations, such as performing with the Ernesto Montenegro Quintet, which led to tours in France, Morocco, the Canary Islands, and Cuba.
Francisco's passion for bebop and the jazz tradition grew even stronger during his trips to New York City in 2022 and 2023. These visits gave him the chance to learn from jazz legends like George Coleman, Jimmy Halperin, Grant Stewart, and Harry Allen. Their guidance not only helped him refine his sound but also expanded his artistic vision. Having performed in various countries and collaborated with some of the most respected names in jazz, Francisco brings a dynamic energy and a deep reverence for bebop to every stage he steps on.
Alexandros Adam was born in Cyprus and grew up in Nicosia. He graduated from the Music High School of Nicosia 2019 with distinction in both the academics and the final recital. After his military service, he started studying in Conservatorium van Amsterdam in 2020 where he graduated in 2024 and where he is to continuing his master's degree. He has played in the biggest venues in the Netherlands such as the Royal Concertgebouw and Bimhuis. He has been tutored under Maarten van der Grinten, Jesse van Ruller, Martijn van Iterson and Reinier Baas. Since his move to Amsterdam, he has played in venues and festivals in Greece, Cyprus, The Netherlands, Germany, Portugal, Belgium, France, Luxembourg, Austria, Turkey and The Maldives. Alexandros is currently based in Amsterdam, working with international bands as leader, co-leader and sideman.
Nikolas Tsangaris is a drummer from Cyprus, now based in Amsterdam, active between Cyprus, the Netherlands, and Europe, as a band leader and session drummer. He has performed with artists like Miho Hazama, Tivon Peniccot and Donny McCaslin and won the “Keep An Eye Outstanding Talent Award” in 2022. Since 2024, he’s also the drummer for Alkinoos Ioannides’ Cypriot project.
Spyros Socratous is a jazz Double Bassist based in Cyprus. He graduated from the Royal Conservatory of The Hague alongside Tony Overwater. He took lessons with the Greek Bassist Petros Klampanis as well as the renowned bassist of the second generation of The Miles Davis quintet, Maestro Ron Carter. Spyros has been working on his own projects including Ρίζες, a site specific performance blending live looping with text. He is part of Bean Trio, Spyros Socratous quartet and SolArt.
