The Deputy Minister of Tourism, Kostas Koumis, described the "Paphos destination" as one of the most emblematic tourist destinations in the country. The Deputy Minister of Tourism was speaking at the recent General Assembly of the Paphos Regions Tourism Development and Promotion Company, noting that the destination continued to strengthen its position on the world tourism map last year.
Paphos ETAP, he continued, always in cooperation with the Deputy Ministry of Tourism, whose support it enjoys through targeted actions and collaborations, has implemented important actions both towards the promotion axis and towards the axis of improvement of the tourism product. He mentioned, for example, the digital promotion campaign of the destination, targeting 14 geographic markets, the promotion of the hinterland and the creation of rural experiences, as well as the initiatives of the Paphos STAGE regarding the protection of the coasts from plastics, cleaning and tree planting actions and actions aimed at raising awareness among local communities. For the Deputy Ministry of Tourism, he continued, the active participation of Paphos STAGE in five European programs that offer know-how and at the same time invest in innovative approaches beneficial to the destination, while at the same time strengthening the beneficial cooperation with other European destinations, is also important. Regarding the infrastructure projects, he reiterated that the Marina in Potima, after many obstacles and difficulties, is expected to be put on track for implementation in the coming months, while he welcomed the expanded activity at Paphos Airport. As he said, 16 airlines currently connect Paphos Airport with 21 countries and 58 different airports. For 2025, Mr. Koumis noted that tourism continues its high returns with arrivals recording the highest performance ever, for the period January – April, a performance increased by 15.6% compared to the previous year, 17.5% compared to 2023 and 62% compared to 2022.
