MAJOR ROAD WORKS

 


Larnaca-Famagusta Motorway During the period 02/04/2025 – 13/06/2025, excluding weekends and holidays, between the hours of 08:30-14:30, pruning and watering works will be carried out on the slopes of the Larnaca Airport-Paralimni motorway, in both directions, by the Forestry Department. During the works, part of the shoulder of the motorway will be closed, in sections of 300 meters at a time. Traffic will not be affected. Periodic road maintenance works will be carried out on sections of the Paralimni-Larnaca Airport motorway, after the Rizoelias junction up to the exit to Aradippou, in the direction towards the Airport, during the period 11/06/2025–17/06/2025, except Fridays and Saturdays, from 20:00 in the evening until 05:30 in the morning of the next day. During the works, both lanes in the Paralimni – Larnaca Airport direction will be closed in sections for a distance of approximately 3 km and traffic will be diverted to the opposite direction, which will operate in a two-way traffic with the use of appropriate signage.

Larnaca-Kofinou Motorway During the period 02/04/2025 – 13/06/2025, excluding weekends and holidays, between the hours of 08:30-14:30, pruning and watering works will be carried out on the slopes of the Larnaca-Kofinou Motorway, in both directions, by the Forestry Department. During the works, part of the shoulder of the motorway will be closed, in sections of 300 meters at a time. Traffic will not be affected. Larnaca-Nicosia Motorway During the period 02/04/2025 – 13/06/2025, excluding weekends and holidays, between the hours of 08:30-14:30, pruning and watering works will be carried out on the slopes of the Larnaca Airport-Paralimni motorway, in both directions, by the Forestry Department. During the works, part of the shoulder of the motorway will be closed, in sections of 300 meters at a time. Traffic will not be affected. Limassol-Nicosia Motorway Nicosia Perimeter Motorway Nicosia-Kokkinotrimithia Motorway Limassol Bypass On the Limassol bypass road and on the Paphos-Limassol motorway, the Department of Forestry will carry out maintenance work on the trees and shrubs of the central island, during which the right lane in both directions will be closed for approximately 1500 m and traffic will be diverted to the slow lane. The works will be carried out as follows: (a) On the section from Erimis junction to Petra tou Romiou during the period 26/05/2025 – 29/07/2025 daily except weekends and holidays between the hours of 07:00 – 15:00 Limassol-Paphos Motorway In both directions of the Limassol-Paphos motorway, from Monday 26/05/2025 until Thursday 26/06/2025 daily except weekends and holidays, between the hours of 08:30-15:00, grass cutting works will be carried out on the shoulders and slopes. During the works, part of the shoulder of the motorway will be closed in sections. Traffic will be carried out unhindered in the traffic lanes. On the section between the exit to Kantou and the exit to Sotira of the Limassol-Paphos motorway, in the direction of Paphos, on Wednesday 11/06/2025, between the hours of 07:30 – 16:00, bridge inspection and maintenance works will be carried out. During the works, the two lanes from Limassol to Paphos will be closed to traffic, in a section of approximately 4 km. in length. The traffic on the motorway will be diverted to the opposite traffic flow, which will operate in two-way traffic. Periodic road maintenance works will be carried out on the section of the Limassol-Paphos motorway, from Avdimou to Episkopi in the direction of Limassol, from Tuesday 10/06/2025 to Thursday 19/06/2025 between the hours of 20:00 in the evening and 05:30 in the morning of the next day, except Fridays and weekends. During the works, both lanes of the motorway in the direction of Limassol will be closed in sections for a length of approximately 3 km and traffic will be diverted to the opposite direction, which will operate with two-way traffic. Nicosia District In Lakatamia, as part of the improvement / construction of Ippokratous Avenue, from Friday 07/02/2025 at 11:00 in the morning, and for a period of approximately 4 months, part of Karavostasiou Street will be temporarily closed to traffic, from its junction with Agiou Ambrosiou Street to its junction with Ippokratous Avenue. All movements to and from Ippokratous Avenue will be carried out via Vatylis Street. Traffic from Themistokleous Street to Ippokratous Avenue and vice versa will be carried out via Nikaias Street. In Lakatamia and Strovolos, within the framework of the works carried out on Ippokratous, Argyroupoleos, Tseriou, and Strovolos Avenues, from Wednesday 07/05/2025 at 11:00 in the morning and for a period of approximately 5 months, the intersection of Georgiou Anagnostopoulou Street and Tseriou Avenue will be closed. During this period, traffic to and from Tseriou Avenue will be conducted via Georgiou Iona Street, where a photo-controlled intersection will operate to regulate traffic.

In Lakatamia and Strovolos, also in the context of the works being carried out on Ippokratous, Argyroupoleos, and Tseriou avenues, from Tuesday 27/05/2025 and for a period of approximately 6 months, the light-controlled intersection of Tseriou avenue with Theofilou Georgiadis street is being abolished and part of Theofilou Georgiadis street will be temporarily closed to traffic, up to its intersection with Ergatikattas street. All movements from Theofilou Georgiadis street to and from Tseriou avenue will be made via the temporary light-controlled intersection with Vasilissis Amalias street. In Nicosia and Strovolos, on Limassol Avenue, near the junction with Armenia Street, on Tuesday 10/06/2025 until Thursday 12/06/2025 from 20:30 in the evening until 05:30 in the morning, works will be carried out to remove and resurface the existing road surface, as follows: – On Tuesday and Wednesday, the works will be carried out in the direction from Limassol to Nicosia and during the works, Limassol Avenue will be closed in this direction, from its photo-controlled junction with Costas Anaxagoras Street to its photo-controlled junction with Armenia Street. Drivers are urged to use the route through Costas Anaxagoras, Chrysanthou Mylonas, Stasinou and Armenia Streets for their movements. – On Thursday, the works will be carried out in the direction from Nicosia to Limassol and during the works, the Limassol Avenue will be closed in this direction, from its photo-controlled junction with Armenias Street to its junction with Kostas Anaxagoras Street. Drivers are urged to use the route through Armenias Stasinou, Chrysanthou Mylona and Kostas Anaxagoras Streets for their journeys. In Nicosia and Aglantzia, as part of the project “Improvement of Famagusta Avenue in Nicosia”, works lasting 24 months are underway from 20 February 2025, which are expected to be completed by 22 February 2027. Specifically, they include Famagusta Avenue from its junction with Kalavryton Street to the Sopaz roundabout, approximately 1.7 km long and a secondary road network approximately 0.8 km long, consisting of a section of Kalavryton, Paphos, Madaris and Semelis streets. As part of the “Improvement of Famagusta Avenue in Nicosia” Project, the following traffic regulations will be in place from 24/04/2025 to 12/12/2025: Kalavryton Street at its junction with Famagusta will be closed. Drivers are asked to use Faliro Street to get to Sopaz roundabout. Drivers are asked to use Terpsichoris Street to get to Larnaca Avenue. Pafos Street will also be closed to traffic. Drivers using this road to get to the area are asked to use Gogou Paraskevaidi Street, which is parallel to Pafos Street and was specifically constructed for this purpose. Residents of the Pafos Street area who want to travel towards Larnakos Avenue are requested to use Kantaras Street, while those who want to travel towards the Sopaz roundabout are requested to use Gogou Paraskevaidi Street for this purpose. Limassol District On the Limassol-Troodos road, in the Lania-Trimiklini section, from 01/06/2025 to 30/06/2025 except Sundays and the three-day period 07, 08, 09/06/2025, water supply pipeline installation works will be carried out by a private company on behalf of the T.A.Y. During the works, one lane of traffic will be closed for approximately 120 m. and traffic management will be carried out with the temporary Traffic Light system. Larnaca District On the Larnaca-Dhekelia coastal road, as part of the construction works of the Project “Improvement of the Larnaca-Dhekelia Coastal Road Phase C”, traffic, from the height of the LEBAY Hotel to the Radisson Beach Hotel, from April 24, 2025 and for six months, will be diverted via Galaxia Street in Oroklini, while part of it, near the BORONIA Hotel, will be closed. In addition, the road connecting Oroklini with the Larnaca-Dhekelia coastal road, at the height of the Oroklini Fire Station and the HENIPA Hotel, from April 24, 2025 and for two months, will be closed to traffic in both directions. Traffic will be diverted via Bella-Pais, Olympos and Athinon Streets in Oroklini. Drivers are urged to be careful. Paphos District Also on the old Paphos-Limassol road, in the section near Petra tou Romiou, during the Between 17/06/2024 and 16/06/2025, construction work will be carried out to stabilize the road. Specifically, the work will be carried out to stabilize the slope and the road surface, as part of the 2nd Phase of the works being carried out on the road, following the major landslides that had occurred since 2019. During the work period, 17/06/2024-16/06/2025, a section of the old Limassol-Paphos road, near Petra tou Romiou, will be temporarily closed to traffic in both directions towards Paphos and towards Limassol. The temporary signage will be the same as in the 1st Phase of Works. Specifically, the necessary signage and information will be placed on the parallel section of the Limassol-Paphos motorway, as well as on the two cut-off sections on the old Limassol-Paphos road, near the western Pissouri-Petra tou Romiou exit and near the Kouklia exit, to inform drivers intending to head towards Petra tou Romiou.
