The research vessel KOBI RUEGG started work yesterday in the Cypriot Exclusive Economic Zone, within Block 12, above the Aphrodite deposit, in order to investigate the morphology of the seabed in the sea area towards Egypt, for the needs of selecting the points where the pipeline will be installed for the transport of natural gas from the field to Egyptian infrastructure.
According to the navtex issued, the investigations for the laying of the gas transmission pipeline in Egypt will last until the end of October 2025.

The agreement of the Aphrodite consortium (Chevron, Shell-BG, New Med) with the Republic of Cyprus for the development of the Aphrodite field was updated and activated last February. At the same time, in February, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed in Cairo between the Republic of Cyprus, Egypt and the consortium Chevron Cyprus Limited, NewMed EnergyLP, BG Cyprus Limited, for the development of the "Aphrodite" natural gas field. With the Memorandum, the framework is formed for the effective commercialization of Aphrodite's natural gas in Egypt.
