The creation of an Eco-Zoo, a thematic and interactive and music park, will be presented to the Limassol Municipal Council by the Party for the Animals, while calling for the closure of the Limassol Zoo.
In detail, the announcement:
The Party for the Animals of Cyprus has from the beginning been committed to the closure of the Limassol Zoo permanently, and the party's long-standing position is that under no circumstances should these premises operate, having incarcerated and imprisoned animals, without their will and without having committed any crime.
For this reason, the President of the Party for the Animals of Cyprus, will present to the plenary session of the Municipal Council, on Thursday 5/6/2025 at 17:30, a proposal for the creation of the Eco-Zoo (or e-zoo).
The Eco Zoo will be a huge step forward from traditional zoos, which will retain the best elements of a thematic visitor attraction, as well as an exhibit museum, in which the visitor will actively participate in education.
There will be entertainment spaces, and visitors will be encouraged to learn about the natural world of animals, through activities, research and discovery, and each experience will prove that we can learn more about the world around us in a place like this, than in a zoo of the past.
Finally, we would like to inform you that, for those who wonder about the fate of the animals when the ZCL is permanently closed, under no circumstances will the already existing animals be euthanized, nor will they be killed.
The Party for the Animals of Cyprus in collaboration with the IL and other global animal welfare organizations will take care of all the animals, so that they can spend the rest of their lives as they deserve.
