The escalation of the conflicts between Israel and Iran and the intention of foreign countries to remove their nationals from the war zones increases the degree of preparedness of Cyprus, which has since yesterday become an escape hub for thousands of people.
According to exclusive information from Filenews, instructions were given, within the framework of the Estia Plan, to put 7 schools in Larnaca, 5 primary schools and 2 high schools on standby today, in case it is necessary to accommodate foreign nationals who will be removed from the war zones.
The Civil Defense and the Ministry of Education have already inspected these schools, in whose air-conditioned multi-purpose rooms beds will be placed if and when necessary. So far, however, as our website was informed, there is no apparent, at least for the next few hours, a mass arrival of foreign nationals, through the Estia Plan.
However, due to the developments, it was decided to activate this part of the Estia Plan, so that our country is ready at all levels and provides the necessary facilities to the countries that will submit relevant requests.
