The Water Development Department asks the public to avoid unnecessary water use and adopt saving practices, in view of the Kataklysmos weekend and the increased water consumption traditionally observed during this period, and taking into account the prolonged drought and the particularly low rainfall of recent months.
"The need for responsible management of water resources is more urgent than ever, with the aim of safeguarding the limited reserves in our dams," says a statement from the TAY.
It adds that "especially in large tourist areas, the public should be particularly careful due to the very high demand that is expected to exist from population movements to the coast".
It is reminded that the use of water hose for washing streets, sidewalks, terraces, railings or motor vehicles is expressly prohibited, based on the Water Saving (Special Measures) Law of 1991 (Law 1/1991).
"The responsible attitude of all of us is decisive, which is why we call on citizens to avoid any unnecessary or wasteful use of water, collectively contributing to the protection of a valuable natural resource," he concludes.
