'INCIDENTS' ON A FLIGHT FROM ATHENS TO CYPRUS - PASSENGERS WERE THROWN OFF THE PLANE

Filenews 11 June 2025 - by Charalambos Zakos

Yesterday's flight of an airline operating the Athens-Cyprus route was episodic, after a number of passengers were forced to disembark for safety reasons, with the problems, however, not ending there.

Things and miracles seem to have taken place on yesterday's flight of an airline from Athens to Cyprus, since, as "F" is informed, a misunderstanding resulted in the mandatory disembarkation of travellers, a delay in the departure of the flight, disruption and quarrels between passengers and staff.

According to the same information, it seems that travellers during their transfer to this particular flight had not passed through the relevant security checks. As soon as the mistake was noticed by those in charge, ground personnel arrived on the aircraft, asking the specific travellers to disembark.

This "order" initially caused a stir since the affected passengers reacted, while a little later a reaction arose from the rest of the passengers who complained both about the delay that occurred and about the handling of those responsible. It should be noted that along with those disembarked, their luggage had to be unloaded for checking, which aggravated the wait.

In fact, the situation was so tense, since, as eyewitnesses report, at some point things went awry between the affected passengers and the staff. They refused to disembark, claiming that they boarded the aircraft on the instructions of an employee, so they did not bear any responsibility that would justify the treatment they received. Finally, after some time, the passengers were convinced and removed from the aircraft.

And just when everything seemed to indicate that with the departure of the passengers things had calmed down, a new decision was the straw that overflowed the glass. Specifically, as they were informed by the airlines, the flight was ultimately not going to depart, as the company decided to wait for the passengers who disembarked until they had completed the checks – both themselves and their luggage – to board again, load their travel luggage and then depart.

Finally the flight departed after a long delay and after a lot of disruption, however, the problems did not end there. As if all this were not enough, passengers faced another unexpected problem in Cyprus, since – possibly due to dense fog – the plane was forced to remain in the air, circling over the airport, which caused additional delay and inconvenience.

However, as it was reported to "F", the airline, had recognized from the very first moment what had happened, apologized to all passengers for the incident, even offering them a free ticket for their future trip.
