Filenews 20 June 2025
Cypriots appear divided in relation to the Israeli-Iranian conflict, both as to whether the attack should have been carried out on the part of the former, and as to who is responsible for the conflict, as evidenced by the poll conducted by Filenews in collaboration with the research company Prime Market Research and Consulting Ltd. However, it is that they are very concerned about the conflict and the possibility that it will affect Cyprus. It is characteristic that one in two of the 3,327 who successfully answered the survey questionnaire indicated that they were concerned about such a possibility.
Divided over the attack

In a question that, perhaps, seemed simple in the questionnaire, it turned out to be extremely interesting in the end. Specifically, to the question "Do you agree with the attack launched by Israel against Iran?", 51% answered no and 42% answered yes.
Who is responsible for the war

The aforementioned fact, that they are divided as to whether the attack should have taken place, is fully explained by the positions of the respondents on the next question: "Who, in your view, bears responsibility for the war between Israel and Iran." 45% of respondents to the questionnaire responded to Iran, 43% responded to Israel, while 34% responded to the US, 18% responded all and 7% responded to Russia (respondents had the right to choose more than one option).
The international community should intervene

The only question, however, was the need for the international community to intervene actively. Specifically, the majority of 66% answered in the affirmative and only 28% answered negatively.
Wider regional or world war

Interesting are the answers to the question "How likely do you think this conflict could develop into a broader regional or global war?" Here opinions differ. The majority, at 39%, answered a lot. The answers of the others were distributed as follows: 25% moderate, 23% little, 8% not at all, 5% inevitable.
Influence of Cyprus

To the most interesting question for the Cypriots themselves, the answers reveal a strong feeling of concern and anxiety. Specifically, to the question "How worried are you that the Israeli-Iranian conflict may negatively affect Cyprus?", one in two respondents to the questionnaire record their concern. Specifically, 47% answered that they are worried (30% very much and 17% very much). 24% answered moderately, 20% answered a little and 9% answered not at all.
Highly informed

The results of the last question as to how well informed Cypriots are about the Israel-Iran war are logical. The vast majority of 67% answered very much, 28% moderately, 4% a little and 1% not at all.
