The acclaimed composer and pianist Evgeni Grinko, who moves the European audience with his music, comes to Cyprus for the first time, as part of his summer European tour.

He will perform in a unique, unrepeatable concert at the idyllic venue of the Ancient Theatre of Curium, on Sunday, July 6.

One night. A piano with a tail. A string quartet. And a scene where 2000 years of history meet the cinematic pulse of neoclassical music.

Evgeni Grinko's compositions are intimate and seductive, a combination of soft piano, symphonic nuances and deep emotional intensity. He is often compared to Ludovico Einaudi, while his style is compared to that of Max Richter, Jan Tirsen and Olafour Arnalz, but he remains authentically his own.

On this night, under the stars, his most beloved melodies will be heard live with a string quartet, surrounded by candle flames and the mesmerizing acoustics of the Ancient Curium Theatre.

The music of the Russian composer will immediately feel familiar, like the soundtrack of a film you loved, without having ever seen it. His work is poetic, cinematic and deeply human. His viral compositions such as "Valse", "Serenade" and "Field" have been listened to by millions and have gained cult status among fans of contemporary classical music.

His melodies do not just entertain, but deeply touch the listener.

About Evgeni Grinko

Sometimes music travels unexpectedly to the farthest corners of the world. This is what happened with the former noise rock musician, whose first step in the field of neoclassical music, the composition "Valse", evolved into a phenomenon that started organically in Turkey and then spread throughout the world.

Humour, melancholy and nostalgia coexist in his compositions, which have cinematic elements, despite their simple organisational character. The sound colours are intertwined and unfolded in the music, forming a spontaneous sonic rainbow from time to time. As he says: "Every new composition is a small miracle for me. And when you create a miracle, of course you want to share it with the world!"

With over hundreds of millions of listeners on Spotify and YouTube and over 2.1 million monthly listeners, his music continues to gain a fanatic audience worldwide. In 2023 alone, nearly 7 million people listened to his music for the first time.

At the same time, the community around Grinko's work is constantly growing: over 387,000 subscribers on YouTube and 392,000 followers on Instagram, attracted by the artistic quality and integrity of his content.

His live presence is an experience of a lifetime. His compositions are accurately recreated and performed by an exceptional musical ensemble, while the program includes unpublished works and unexpected surprises.

Born in 1985 in Zhukovsky, Moscow, he was in contact with music from a very young age. From the age of four, he remembers observing music in films and cartoons, such as "The Three Bodyguards" and other Russian productions. At the age of six, before school, he listened to rockabilly and surf music on television. His fascination with music led his parents to buy him a cassette with similar tracks.

As Western pop music made its appearance on Russian television, it enthusiastically watched artists such as Prodigy, Chemical Brothers, and Nirvana. So, with the help of his parents, he acquired his first guitar.

After two years of guitar, he turned to drums and participated in indie noise bands in his homeland and Moscow. One of the highlights of this period was a tour with Damo Suzuku, a former member of Can, the legendary German krautrock band.

In 2007 he began to learn piano on his own, improvising and discovering sounds. Three years later, "Valse" was born. As he recounts: "It was a warm summer afternoon. I was improvising on the piano and the first phrase of the melody appeared in front of me. I felt that something was being born, so I took a video with my mobile phone. I forgot about it for months, but when I got back to it, I completed it and immediately uploaded it to Facebook."

"Winter Sunshine" was recorded at his home in Zhukowski and released in 2011. Compositions such as "Other Child Room" and "It Smells Like Chamomile Tea" are characterized by minimalism and slight disharmony, while "Winter Sunshine", "Blizzard" and "Sunset" express the joy of small winter days.

His first full-length album, "Ice for Aureliano Buendia", was released in April 2013, after two years of recording. The title refers to the character of Gabriel García Márquez, whose strongest memory is ice.
