The Police are investigating a robbery case, reported around 2.30 a.m. on Sunday, by a 30-year-old man and woman couple, tourists, in Paphos. 

According to the complaint, around 2.15 a.m. this Sunday, while the couple was walking on Poseidonos Avenue, in Paphos, they were approached by a number of young people and one of the young men harassed the 30-year-old woman. 

After the 30-year-old asked for an explanation, three of the young men attacked him and stole a shoulder bag that he was carrying and that contained his personal belongings. 

In the 30-year-old's attempt to prevent the attack on the 30-year-old, one of the young men stole a bag that she was carrying and that contained her mobile phone.

Simple protection measures to prevent incidents of theft of property from beaches, which are visited by a large number of citizens during this summer period, are recommended by the Police, on the occasion of an incident of theft of property from a beach, which was reported, in the district of Famagusta.

According to a complaint submitted to the Famagusta TAE, a 36-year-old man, while yesterday, Saturday, between the hours of 11.00 a.m. and 3.00 p.m., he was on a beach in the Ayia Napa area, a jewellery bag, which contained a men's and a woman's watch, worth €5,000 and €3,500 respectively, and an engagement ring, made of white gold and with a small diamond, worth €2,500.

In addition to the policing measures taken during the summer period to prevent theft incidents in coastal areas, as well as in mountain resorts and picnic areas, attention is recommended to the public and citizens are urged to take measures to more effectively protect their property.

Indicatively, the following three simple protection measures are mentioned:

  1. We carry to the beach only the necessary money we need
  2. We do not carry items of great value, such as jewellery, watches, telephones
  3. We do not leave our things unattended. Our personal property must be constantly in our field of vision

The Department of Forests of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment announced that today, Saturday, June 28, 2025 at 15:50, a fire broke out in an area of the community of Kakopetria.

The fire was caused by citizens who used a power tool (emery) without a permit and was brought under full control at 15:56 .

The Forestry Department in cooperation with the Police will proceed to a complaint of those involved.

For another eight days, the detention of the Azerbaijani, who is considered a suspect for offences related to conspiracy to commit a felony, participation in criminal activities, espionage and terrorism, was renewed.

The suspect was brought on Sunday morning before the Limassol District Court, from Nicosia, where he is being held, under draconian security measures and accompanied by members of the anti-terrorist group. The procedure was carried out behind closed doors for security reasons. The court approved the investigators' request and renewed his detention for another eight days.

The Limassol Police proceeded with several citizen complaints last night as part of a campaign that took place in areas of the city. The complaints were made in the context of an operation to prevent serious and organized crime and strengthen the citizens' sense of security.

According to the police, during the night, during the operation, patrols of the Force were in areas where increased crime has been observed recently. During the patrols, various points, premises and people were checked.

A total of 104 vehicle checks were carried out and nine complaints were made for various traffic offences. Three drivers were reported for drinking alcohol and eight vehicles were seized.

Five premises were also denounced which, as it was established, did not have an operating license or a license to sell alcoholic beverages. In addition, two premises were reported for broadcasting music without permission.

As part of the operation, checks were also carried out on a total of 46 premises and buildings.

An episodic chase with minors, which started from Nicosia and ended up in the Larnaca district, took place shortly before noon on Saturday (28/06).

According to the Police, around 11.30 today, members of the "Z" group spotted a car moving suspiciously in the area of the Nicosia hospital.

The members of the Force signalled to the driver to stop, but he did not obey.

A pursuit followed, with members of the "Z" team stopping the vehicle half an hour later, in the area of the British Bases in Pyla.

As it was established, three minors were in the vehicle – two boys aged 14 and 17 and a 16-year-old girl.

It is noted that the three people are currently in custody for violations of the Traffic Code and possession of drug-related substances.

The Police of the Bases states that "they will investigate other crimes against the suspects".
