The 36-year-old suspect from Slovakia, during her interrogation, claimed that she was taking care of the three dogs and had taken measures to prevent them from escaping. Specifically, she mentioned that she had placed a double iron net on the gates of her house, as in the past the animals had escaped. She also stated that the dogs had never shown aggressive behaviour. She admitted, however, that on the day of the attack the dogs managed to break the net and escape. As she claimed, she sought to locate them in the area but did not succeed and was finally informed by the Police about the incident. She then went to the station, where the animals were handed over to her.
For the dogs, the 36-year-old said that they have passports. As for the eldest, she claimed that it was given to her as a gift two years ago by a person who has recently passed away. The suspects' allegations contradict what the children's father testified, who rushed to the scene of the attack after a phone call from a foreign worker at a premises near the scene. As he stated, when he arrived, he found that the gates of the fenced area where the suspects live were also open, while the 43-year-old suspect appeared to be working on a lifting machine.
The father also claimed that this was not the first time the dogs had shown aggression, as they had previously invaded the family's yard, killing cats and chickens from their chicken coop. The plot where the suspects reside and use it as a residence, is about 600 meters from the site of the attack, and falls within an industrial area.
